Dear Rotary members and friends,
Hopefully you've come through this series of storms dry and intact! I keep reminding myself that the gray skies and constant rains will mean more reduction in our wild fire risk this year, not to mention reducing our need to ration water. So that helps me to be grateful for every drop. And for those of you planning on joining our service trip to Los Barriles, you have some (probable) sunshine and warmth to look forward to! Be sure to contact Paul Boch if you would like more information about the trip, or are considering going.
Please join us this Thursday Jan. 12 noon for our first lunch of the year at Bistro 221 (RSVP Here) when we will welcome our newest member, County CEO Alison Lehman, into our club.  Alison’s family members plan to attend as well, so let’s show them a warm Rotary welcome.  Then, following the induction, we’ll watch Part 5 of the video series “Climate Solutions 101:  Putting It All Together”. We’re starting to learn about some real-life solutions that can help mitigate climate change, (and which could possibly even turn into a Rotary service project).  Although learning about climate change can sometimes be challenging, it is imperative that we as humans and Rotarians learn how we are ALL impacted by it, and what we can do to help.
Remember last Fall when your co-presidents held one-on-one interviews with our members? We have finally collated the information we learned, and will be presenting our findings with you all at our meeting at Round Table Pizza on Jan. 19 at 5:30pm. We welcome your input, questions and feedback. The pizza and adult beverage (or whatever you drink) should make it fun!
In service,
Chris (and Carolyn)

Robotics and more with ACME Robotics Inc

Always a fun evening when the ACME Robotics Inc team comes to wow our club with their knowledge, creativity, and mastery of robotics. The team showed off this year's robot and talked about the many facets of designing, building and maintaining a fully functional competitive robot.  Creativity abounds as they describe designing and creating critical parts via a 3D printer.

Nevada County's premier award-winning high school robotics team has been successfully competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge since 2014.  Nevada City Rotary is proud to be an ongoing sponsor of the ACME Robotics team.
