Welcome to the Rotary Club of Nevada City

There's something that all Rotary club members have in common: We take action. As community volunteers, we reach out to neighbors in need. We build, support, and organize. We save lives. We work locally and globally.

The main objective of Rotary is service -- in the community, the workplace and the world. Around the world and around the corner, the 1.2 million men and women of Rotary
  • Get involved in our communities
  • Connect with other professionals
  • Share their time and experience with young people
  • Support global causes, such as eradicating polio
  • Use our skills to help others
Rotary is not just an organization. It is a medicine for the soul, a family we choose, not inherit,
and a gift we give to ourselves and the world!
Past President Cathy Wilcox-Barnes.

Whether you're a veteran volunteer or new to community service, we are looking for people like you. Contact us for more information about Rotary and how to join us.

Nevada City SPD Market ~ Saturday December 14, 2024 ~ 10am-6pm

The Rotary Club of Nevada City has a long-standing tradition of ringing the bell for the Salvation Army.  Not only is it fun seeing all your friends and neighbors, but it is a real service as we raise funds to help the less fortunate in our community.

Keep this special tradition going strong. Click to Sign Up now or contact Cathy directly.

‘Tis the Season to be Jolly!

The holidays are fast approaching, and with them comes a unique opportunity for Community Service. We did such a good job last year, our Community Services Director (Chief Dan Foss) has once again asked the Rotary Club of Nevada City to help at the Victorian Christmas Events.

The dates/times are Sunday afternoons, Dec. 8, 15, and 22 from 1:00-3:30pm and 3:30-6:00pm, and Wednesday evenings, December 11 and 18 from 4:30-6:30pm and 6:30-9:00pm. Rotarians typically go out in groups of two, with special NCPD safety vests, to mingle with the crowds and give information, if asked, on such things as where the bathrooms are, etc. Also, we serve as additional eyes/ears for the Police Department but we do not handle problems ourselves! There will be a short 10-minute orientation for each shift and Rotarians are welcome to return to City Hall to warm up, eat cookies, and rest, as needed. Cathy Wilcox-Barnes will be circulating a signup sheet at the meetings leading up to the event(s) or you can sign up at Victorian Christmas 2024 Sign Up.

Woof Woof and Many Thanks for a Funfilled Tail Wagging Day!

A huge thank you to all! Nevada City Rotary you are absolutely pawsome! We had a tremendous Club turnout for setup, the event, and teardown.  You all bent over backwards to welcome and support all out booth partners. They felt genuinely welcomed and no one needed a vehicle to get setup or teardown thanks to your generosity and active support of them! A tremendous team effort!

Kim, Paul, and KNCO/Star 94 FM, we could not have done it without you! To all our sponsors and booth hosts, thank you for your partnership and pawtacular support! Thank you to St Mary's Academy for running our Pumpkins for Polio booth! Click on the photo to see our Paws album of the day!

Enjoy or photo album from the day! Mai and Tally took pawmendous photos! Others, please send more to share!

October 17 Pumpkins for Polio Social and Auction

What a fabulous turnout and spectaclar display of the most unforgettable pumpkin artistry! Judy, Andrea and our artist team were over the top! And we raised a bucket of money.  Farmer John Drew celebrated with us! Thanks to Farmer John for his land and expertise, Peaceful Valley for pumpkin starts and Tim Ried for a load of manure.

Accolades to Cathy, Tom, Judy, and George for their ongoing efforts planting, nurturing, harvesting and clearing the fields through the summer and fall. We are reaping the rewards of all your efforts!
