Welcome to the Rotary Club of Nevada City

There's something that all Rotary club members have in common: We take action. As community volunteers, we reach out to neighbors in need. We build, support, and organize. We save lives. We work locally and globally.

Our Club in Action
Nevada City Rotary has once again planted Pumpkins for Polio in Farmer John Drew's Bakbraken Acres fields. This year the soil was tilled with added nutrients thanks to several truck loads of manure generously donated by Tim Reid from the Reid Family cattle and horse ranch. We also extend special thanks to Peaceful Valley Farm Supply for donating two dozen pumpkin seedlings and NutriRich fertilizer pellets to kick start our pumpkin patch!

We are hoping for an abundant harvest of pumpkins for World Polio Day in October!
Members are invited to join Cathy, Tom, George and anyone else who shows up for cool early morning(s) tending to our pumpkins and enjoying the delicious fruits of the farm — whatever is in season from blackberries and raspberries to onions, garlic and other surprises!

BakBraken Acres is at 14283 Judy Ln, Grass Valley, CA 95945 (take Powerline Rd off Hwy 174). Cathy can provide scheduling info.
July is HERE and we have a unique opportunity to partner with Sunny, K-9 Officer Ruby, and their team! Our Community Services Director (Chief Dan Foss) has asked the Rotary Club of Nevada City to help at the Hot Summer Nights Event. It is a fun way to serve our community and hobnob with locals and Sunny!

We need more volunteers for the much cooler second shift! Please go to Nevada City Hot Summer Nights Signup and enter your name in one or more of the colored fields!

The dates/times are: Wednesday evenings, July 17, 24 and 31, 2024.

Thank you in advance for being Rotarians in Action! Questions or want to signup the old fashioned way, contact Cathy (2cwb@sbcglobal.net or (530) 263-2496) and she’ll add you to the list.

On a sunny Saturday morning June 1, John Hensley handed over keys to Noel Brownell owner of Tour de Nevada City Bike Shop. John added an extension to his real estate office and Harmony Ridge Market building on Hwy 20 across from the Old 5 Mile House. The new annex will soon be home to Tour de Nevada City’s outpost.
The two Nevada City Rotarians are a great example of Rotary’s Vocational Service at work. Rotary’s focus on Vocational Service is about promoting the highest ethical standards in business and contributing our vocational talents to solving the problems of society and meeting the needs of the community. Congrats to John and Noel for sharing your individual professional skills to serve the many local and visiting bikers on Harmony Ridge!

The power of partnership expands our opportunities for service and the impact of our work.  We celebrate and extend a special thank you to our partners during this Rotary year.

Nevada City Rotary is proud to be recognized for our Community Service and we salute Chief of Police Dan Foss as the recipient of the prestigious Elza Kilroy Award for Outstanding Service. Chief Dan and Nevada City Rotary was honored at Nevada City Chamber of Commerce’s 122nd annual Awards Night & Dinner - “A Long Table” Event, Saturday May 18, 2024.

Dan accepted his Elza Kilroy award Saturday evening accompanied by his wife Lisa and daughter Olivia.  Tom Ryan and Tom Milam accepted the Community Service award for our Club and were joined by Lynn, Kelly (and Dave), and Nicole.
