Welcome to the Rotary Club of Nevada City

There's something that all Rotary club members have in common: We take action. As community volunteers, we reach out to neighbors in need. We build, support, and organize. We save lives. We work locally and globally.

The main objective of Rotary is service -- in the community, the workplace and the world. Around the world and around the corner, the 1.2 million men and women of Rotary
  • Get involved in our communities
  • Connect with other professionals
  • Share their time and experience with young people
  • Support global causes, such as eradicating polio
  • Use our skills to help others
Rotary is not just an organization. It is a medicine for the soul, a family we choose, not inherit,
and a gift we give to ourselves and the world!
Past President Cathy Wilcox-Barnes.

Whether you're a veteran volunteer or new to community service, we are looking for people like you. Contact us for more information about Rotary and how to join us.

Bring Donation Coats This Thursday December 4

Please support our 2025 Mt St Mary’s REGL team's coat drive by bringing gently used coats to donate at our next Social Thursday December 4.  Building on her request at recent club meetings, here is an update from Karen:

I will be at the Dec 4th social to gather any gently used coats our members would like to donate. This coat drive is part of our Mt St Mary's service project, which they are to complete as part of their REGL camp experience.

I'm expecting at least one of the kids to attend the meeting and say thank you for the coats and for the camp experience.

Many thanks,

Karen

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED FOOD and/or MONEY!

Preliminary reports indicate Nevada City Rotary donated approximately 150 pounds of food and over $750 in monetary donations during the Area 4 "Inaugural Nevada County Rotary Food Drive.Every $1 donated = 1 pound toward your total! The challenge will be based on the weight of food collected.  The Food Bank is tabulating the Rotary donations so we will hear soon.

The winning club will receive a custom-engraved Rotary Food Drive Bell, which they can proudly keep until next year's challenge. More importantly, we enjoy the exhileration of seeing much-needed food collections come in to restock the depleted shelves at the Food Bank of Nevada County. Most importantly help serve our community’s food needs through challenging times!

More children are feeling the vibe!

As of December 1, over  825 children ages 0-5 are enrolled in the Imagination Library Nevada County program! Karen McDonald recently shared a heart warming story about a 2-year old child of a former student who came running to her at Mt St Mary's squealing "looky" with her first book. Friends, neighbors and until-now strangers are expressing joy and gratitude as their children receive their monthly books!

We are proud to partner with Dolly Parton's Imagination LibraryFirst 5 Nevada County, and the generous donors from our community to bring the joy of reading to littlest ones among us!

You too can support Nevada County’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library by making a special Year End 2025 Gift. Read Andrea’s Year 2025 Year End Letter.

The power of partnership expands our opportunities for service and the impact of our work. We celebrate and extend a special thank you to our partners during this Rotary year.

For prior years,

December 2025
