Welcome to the Rotary Club of Nevada City

There's something that all Rotary club members have in common: We take action. As community volunteers, we reach out to neighbors in need. We build, support, and organize. We save lives. We work locally and globally.

The main objective of Rotary is service -- in the community, the workplace and the world. Around the world and around the corner, the 1.2 million men and women of Rotary
  • Get involved in our communities
  • Connect with other professionals
  • Share their time and experience with young people
  • Support global causes, such as eradicating polio
  • Use our skills to help others
Rotary is not just an organization. It is a medicine for the soul, a family we choose, not inherit,
and a gift we give to ourselves and the world!
Past President Cathy Wilcox-Barnes.

Whether you're a veteran volunteer or new to community service, we are looking for people like you. Contact us for more information about Rotary and how to join us.

A Dog and Family Friendly Event

Paws and A Cause will be a tail wagging community event with fun games & competitions, animal &food vendors, prizes, auctions, a photo booth, and more. While the event is a FUNdraiser to support Nevada City Rotary's youth and community services, we are looking to promote local pet and animal related services including Animal Control’s H.E.A.R.T, Sammie’s Friends, Animal Save, NorCal Golden Retriever Rescue, and many others who will host booths and mobile clinics, etc.

Excitement is building as we confirm pet & animal loving businesses. Let us know if you have potential contacts!

A special thank you to Club member sponsors:
John Hensley & Nevada County Properties/Recreation Realty for sponsoring our doggie bandanas!
and Woof Woof Sponsor Hospice of the Foothills

Nevada City Rotary presents
the Three "R" Event:

Recycle & Repurpose Rechargeables

Coming this week! Clean out your drawers and tool sheds. Our 3rd annual Three “R” event to collect, recycle and repurpose rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and devices is rapidly approaching on Saturday, September 21. We are hosting it from 10am-2pm in partnership with Redwood Materials at the Rood Center in Nevada City.

The public can drop off Lithium-ion rechargeable devices and batteries for recycling by Redwood Materials. Minerals from recycled batteries are used to make new rechargeable batteries. We will collect cellphones, tablets, laptops, electric toothbrushes, e-shavers, vapes, wireless headphones, Bluetooth speakers, power tool batteries, video game controllers, etc. Click for accepted items list. This is not an electronic e-waste event.

Please sign up and see Chris about volunteer needs! More details at Three “R” Event.
Check out those “bigfoot” size pumpkins!  Nevada City Rotary’s Pumpkins for Polio in Farmer John Drew's Bakbraken Acres fields are getting big.

This year the soil was tilled with added nutrients thanks to several truck loads of manure generously donated by Tim Reid from the Reid Family cattle and horse ranch. We also extend special thanks to Peaceful Valley Farm Supply for donating two dozen pumpkin seedlings and NutriRich fertilizer pellets to kick start our pumpkin patch!

Pumpkins are looking good for an abundant harvest for World Polio Day in October! Check out new photos of pumpkins on the vine!

Members are invited to join Cathy, Tom, George and anyone else who shows up for cool early morning(s) tending to our pumpkins and enjoying the delicious fruits of the farm — whatever is in season from blackberries and raspberries to onions, garlic and other surprises!

BakBraken Acres is at 14283 Judy Ln, Grass Valley, CA 95945 (take Powerline Rd off Hwy 174). Cathy can provide scheduling info.

The power of partnership expands our opportunities for service and the impact of our work.  We celebrate and extend a special thank you to our partners during this Rotary year.
