Dear Rotary members and friends,
Happy 2023!
We hope you had a relaxing and warm Christmas season with friends and family. And now we are looking forward to a very active and service-filled year. Already many of our members are gearing up for our coming activities: the sewing circle working on the Menstrual Hygiene Project is starting to meet, the trip to our partner club in Los Barriles, Baja CA del Sur is being planned, and the Environmental Committee will soon be planning our second Lithium Rechargeable Battery Collection for April, just to name a few.
Your co-presidents set several goals for the club at the beginning of our year; one of them was to increase our club by five members by June 2023. With the induction of Dan Foss, Jim Bair, Louise Johnson, and next week Alison Lehman (see below), we are nearly there! Remember, the best way to grow our club is for YOU to tell your friends why you love being a Rotarian—and then invite them to attend one of our events.
Our most exciting news is that our Nominating Committee has come up with a slate of officer candidates for the coming ’23-’24 Rotary year, and we are thrilled to let you know who they are:
Karen Mc Donald: July-October 2023 (Karen will serve as Administrative President for RI communications)
Cathy Wilcox-Barnes: Nov. 2023-Feb. 2024
Doug McDonald: March-June 2024 (and Doug will also serve as our president-elect, for the year 2024-25!)
Robin Milam has graciously agreed to continue as secretary, and Tom Ryan as treasurer.
T
hese candidates need to be voted on by our Club, so we will be proposing them at this week’s meeting on Thursday Jan. 5, 2023, 5:30pm, at the Round Table Pizza. Please join us for the vote.
Then we will have a fun time hearing from the ACME Robotics, Inc team we sponsor and who will be updating us that evening! Many will remember ACME’s last live visit at Trolley Junction to show off their 2020 robot. (Last year the team joined us via zoom!)
Wishing us all a GREAT 2023 in Rotary service!
