Nevada City Rotarians, Family, and Friends,

Following our 4th of July celebrations, we started our new Rotary Year with a bang by presenting the City of Nevada City with a $600 donation! (see details below).

Last week, it was my honor to be formally “sworn in” as your President for this year. We also formalized the recognition of our Leadership Team including our Board Members and Committee Chairs. Our first meeting of the year had fantastic attendance including fellow Rotary Area 4 Presidents and our Area 4 Governor, Marcia Salter, as well as many welcomed guests. Our numbers are swelling and the excitement is tangible as we welcome new members to our Nevada City Rotary community!

We have two public events coming up this week, the first of which requires your help! Our partnership with the City of Nevada City is long-standing and highly valued by all of us. Please join us in volunteering to partner with the Nevada City Police Department to make sure Summer Nights goes off without a hitch. (See sign up link below.)

The second event is our upcoming social meeting at Round Table Pizza on Thursday. You may ask why I’m highlighting this since it’s always listed in the Upcoming Events section of this newsletter, but here’s why I’m mentioning it. Have you ever noticed how some conversations just click, while others feel like you're speaking different languages? That's not a coincidence, it's communication style. As a service club and as a community which is more than just professional networking, we must ask ourselves “How well do we communicate with each other? Are we aware of our own comms styles? Do we understand how our fellow club members work best?” Imagine how powerful it could be if we all learned a bit more about each other in this capacity to build the effectiveness of our club.

Join us on Thursday to induct Lisa Drageset as our newest member and to engage in what will be an educational and fun activity!

Yours in Service,

Madame President Andrea

Summer Play Scholarships

Nevada City Rotary Donates Scholarship to Support Summer Programs

Recognizing our ongoing partnership with the City of Nevada City, Andrea presented Dawn Zydonis, Parks and Recreation a $600 donation to support local children participating in swim and other summer programs. Perfect timing as July is National Parks and Recreation Month.

We are proud to support these efforts and partner with the City throughout the year on projects and events that enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.  “Our partnership with the City reflects Rotary’s commitment to service above self,” said President Andrea. “We’re pleased to help support summer recreation opportunities and to work alongside the City on projects that strengthen our community.”
