Thank you to Louise Johnson for filling in for Walt Stickel at Thursday’s social meeting. Walt came down with COVID last week, and we wish him a speedy recovery. Hope you’re feeling better, Walt!
Louise’s craft talk was entitled “On Any Given Day”. She walked us through a few of the joys and sorrows on any given day of her life as a teacher and a superintendent. If you didn’t catch her news, she will be teaching two courses for the OLLI program at Sierra College. Check it out atOSHER Lifelong Learning Institute. At the next social we’ll host our RYE student from Sweden, and PDG Jeff Gabriel will be joining us to present the Club of the Year trophy – don’t miss it!
On Thursday of this week, we have Gil Matthews visiting us with his insights from the Economic Resource Council. Gil is a 49er Rotarian, is a former member of our club and is looking forward to being with us. Gil says, “And I really look forward to being with the club where my whole Rotary experience began back in 1987.” Don’t forget to RSVP for your spot at the meeting – the menu looks great!
Enjoy our changing weather, the cool mornings are perfect for a cup of coffee or tea on the deck. With Hurricane Hillary becoming a tropical storm, we may even catch a few rain drops this week.

If you choose to pay via credit card in advance, please add $1/meal (i.e. $26) to cover fees and be sure you return to the RSVP form after paying to SUBMIT your reservation.

Salad Option Greek Salad with Chicken - Grilled Chicken, Spinach, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Onions, Feta Cheese, Green Olives, Bell Peppers, and Artichoke Hearts.
Meat Option Teriyaki Mushroom Swiss Burger - 1/2 LB Angus Burger Patty topped with Teriyaki Sauce, Swiss Cheese, Mushrooms, Pineapple, Lettuce, Tomato, and Onion served with French Fries.
Vegetarian Option Veggie Burrito - Scrambled Eggs, Home Fries, Cheese, Spinach, Mushrooms and Bell Peppers served with side of salsa verde.

Western Nevada County Rotarians are invited to come out to support our Nevada Union Miners Freshman Football Teamon Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Hooper Stadium on the NU Campus. Kickoff is 6:00 PM and tickets at the gate are $7 for adults, $5 for students and children, and $5 for senior citizens. The snack shack will be open with pizza, drinks and snacks and the swag shop will be open where you can get all your new Miner T-shirts, hats and pompoms! Bring the family.

Far West Rotarians are competing against Minneapolis to hold the 2029 Rotary International Convention in San Francisco, and the site selection committee will be at this event to see how ENERGIZED, COMMITTED and FUN we Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors are!
