The Ranch tour last Thursday was an eye-opener. A big thanks to Luke Browning, Director CTE. As we can see from the picture, Louise, Ken, Tom and Robin, Chris, Paula, Tally, Walter, Lisa Dragaset, and I plus Karen attended live and in person. We were delighted to have Lisa’s husband Anders, his mother and Rotary father join us.
and at least one new friend…
The 86 acre ranch donated by the Phelan Family to the Nevada Joint Unified High School District (NJUHSD), will go a long way toward cultivating the Future of Agriculture in Nevada County.
Armando and his County team opened up the vote tabulation and verification facility to the public from 4-7 pm that same day. Some of us were able to walk through and frankly marvel at what it takes to ‘count the votes’ coming June 2.
Hope to see you at the Hive Thursday, May 28 12:15pm for lunch. Bring a treat if you can… Chris will educate us on our Carbon Footprint as we prepare for our Rechargeable LI Battery Recycling on Saturday morning, May 30. Thanks Paul for the lemons last time!
This year, we are partnering with Peace Lutheran Church as they do their regular CRV bottles/cans collection event, on Saturday May 30. The public can make it a one-stop recycling day at the church to drop off your CRV bottles and cans (along with plastic #1, 2, and 5) with the Church team, then leave all your Lithium Ion (rechargeable) devices and batteries with our Nevada City Rotary team.
Eligible items include cell phones, tablets, laptops, electric toothbrush handles, e-shavers, vapes, wireless headphones and earbuds, Bluetooth speakers, power tool batteries, e-bike batteries, video game controllers, etc.
Additional volunteers needed …please contact Chris Newsom if you can assist!
