Nevada City Rotary Club Successes
On February 22ndthe Area 4 club presidents and presidents-elect will participate in the mid-year meeting with District Governor Jeff Gabriel and District Governor Elect Stacy Graham. Presidents will give a summary of club goals and our progress in meeting or exceeding them. Chris and I are proud to relate our successes, such as having already met our membership goal of 5 new members.
At Thursday’s club social, Carolyn prompted members to identify achievement of our goals and other accomplishments.
Here are their responses:
Youth Service: Established and chartered an Interact Club at Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning (SAEL) high school, partnered in a District 5190 Grant for the Bright Futures for Youth NEO Youth Center cafe, helped select a Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) student for next academic year, and co-sponsored the Rotary/MIM Young Musician Music Contest with a high school winner from SAEL progresses to District.
Club Service: Hosted a wonderful holiday party, launched a new website on ClubRunner platform, and moved to two new comfortable venues for socials and regular Club meetings
Community Service:Presented our Community Vocational Service Award to Nicole McNeely, former Executive Director of Nevada County Food Bank and planted more flowers at Penzance Park.
International Service: 11 volunteers will be participating in the student health screenings in Los Barriles, MX. Initiated a menstrual hygiene kit sewing circle project with the 49er Rotary and a District 5190 grant. Nominated a potential Global Grant Scholar.
District Leadership: Multiple members are actively engaged with District leadership activities including conference, District Committee Chairs, and President Elect Training (PETs).
More: We nominated a triad of co-presidents for next year. DennisGeare is District Governor Nominee. Our Club Foundation is on track to sponsor another Drew Reynolds Scholarship and we raised nearly $15,000 from Hungry Games.
A lot of accomplishments in just 8 months for a small, and growing, Rotary club!!
