Happy Summer to all of you! As my first address to you in the role of Rotary 2026-27 Club President, I’d like to say a huge thanks and offer all our appreciations to Pearce Boyer for his leadership during this last year. His Demotion Party on June 18th was a wonderful time and now he gets to kick back and relax a bit.
As for me, I’m incredibly excited to start off this new Rotary year and look forward to continuing the legacy of community stewardship and service which our club provides.
Big thanks go out to Nevada City Police Chief Dan Foss for his incredible presentation at our lunch meeting on June 25th where he gave us his professional back story about what led him to our community and detailed some of the hiccups and nuances faced by law enforcement officers in their careers. Dan highlighted the importance of mental health awareness and how officers and their families can be impacted by the mental load LEO’s face in the field every day. It’s a good reminder that public service roles often carry an emotional weight which may not often be seen outwardly and to find compassion and a level of understanding for the weight they carry in being of service to their communities.

The most important announcement for this weeks Rotario is that there will be no meeting on July 2nd.Our first meeting of the new year will take place on Thursday, July 9th at 12:15pm at Bodhi Hive. (Sneak announcement that this location will likely be changing very soon!)
Our speaker for this meeting will be Jesse Hicks from Return Organics to Nature (ROTN), and I’m excited to hear more about Nevada County’s first municipal scale compost facility. Hope to see you all there!
