This Week
Kim Stewart has been connecting with a local 4-H club to help us out with the Miner’s Trail in town. Well, good news! They are on fire for the joint effort and are our special guests this week.

Dannon Ivey, Student and President of the Meadowlark 4-H Club
Tracy Ivey, Community Pride Project Leader and Mom advisor to the club.

They will briefly share past community projects and their community pride program which falls in line with our youth support interests in our club. They are excited to be invited to participate in the Miner’s Trail rejuvenation. I hope while they are visiting, we can share ideas amongst our members on how to fund it, rejuvenate it, and maintain it.

4-H members earn "Community Badges" for projects like this so they are anxious and thankful.

New member induction today
Please welcome Kelly Christensen.

Last Week
Taking time to reminisce over his term as president, pP John Taylor (1996-97) led a fun, entertaining and informative meeting. Some of his stories including his loosing his bell during his first meeting, having counterfeit fine bucks that got out of hand and a cookie fund raiser Foreign Exchange Student from France, Jessica, conducted. It was during his term that the radio auction was started and the flood that practically destroyed pP Kirby's restaurant, but did destroy about three acres of Carl Stewart's property in the Town of Washington shocked us all. It was during John's term that our club moved back to the National Hotel from the Coach House after a brief stint at the Elk's Lodge.

PE Dennis Geare announced the Cathy Wilcox-Barnes is resuming her role as club historian. Way to go Cathy! Birthdays mentioned where Stacy Butler's and Gill Gray's. Bob Buhlis won the raffle, but had no luck with the card match.

Program for the day was presented by Andrew Collins-Anderson, representing SYRCL which is now celebrating 30 years of serving the community. Andrew's responsibility is outreach and education. He certainly got our attention with the work that has been done, the 30th anniversary activities and plans for the future.

Celebrate Portugal - It's not too late!
If you haven't made your reservation for dinner on Thursday evening, June 20, when we will "Celebrate Portugal", sight of the 2013 RI Convention, you may do so at this week's meeting. Instead of our regular luncheon, we will meet at The Old 5 Mile House at 6 pm for cocktails with dinner at 7 pm while we imagine we are in Lisbon.

Our Portuguese menu choices ($18, including tax and tip) includes a choice of
1) Costolettos de Porco
2) Grilled Chicken Piri Piri over Caesar Salad
3) Spinach Empanada
Rolls and dessert will be provided. Beverages are not included.

Our event will be held with decorated tables in the lawn area near the bocci ball court (the court will be available to us). Deadline for reservations is at our luncheon meeting on June 13.
