Notes From Last Meeting
Question: who can be easily heard at the other end of the room, lovingly yells at her children, and doesn't need a mike (Mike)? If you answered pP Kim Stewart, you got that one right. Kim once again was President for the Day and led us in a fun meeting in her own spontaneous fashion. With Kim, we are always entertained and can expect the unexpected. Thanks, Kim!

The program was presented by the handsome and funny man Luuk van den Berg, wife of Rotarian, Laura. He presented us with an understanding of his position at Cisco and explained that Cisco is in the business of the transformation of information (data) in the Internet environment. Thanks Luuk, for not only entertaining us but for explaining some complex and technical information in a language understandable by laymen.

Along with Luuk, Marty Dinwiddie was a guest - both are always welcome as are all family members and friends of Rotarians. Birthdays celebrated were for pP John Hensley, PE Dennis Geare, and Glen Foley. Raffle winner was Gil Dominguez who was unsuccessful in matching the playing cards.

Ready to take a "Journey to the West"? If so, bring family and friends, and join your fellow Rotarians in attending the new CATS production, a benefit performance for the KVMR/Nevada Theatre construction project, this Friday, April 19. The evening begins at the Nevada City Winery at 6:30 o'clock for a no-host gathering before trekking over to the Nevada Theatre for an 8 p.m. curtain. To make reservations, contact PEN Robin Milam at 272-4322 or Payment of $20.70 each for discounted tickets must be paid to Treasurer pP Ellen Davis by the end of today's meeting. Don't miss this outstanding production!

Other important dates are listed below. Some of the key events are District Training on April 20, Rotarians at Work Day on May 4, Noel Carter Trail dedication on May 11, District Conference on May 17-19, "Treasures for Scholars - Bargains for You" sale on June 15, and the "Adventures and Wine" auction on September 27. Watch for details for our end-of-the-year party which just may be a re-demotion for past presidents willing to go through that ordeal again. And...don't forget to bring in those bras and collection containers for RI's Foundation fund.

Chinese New Year 2013 was celebrated in Nevada City with a parade celebrating the Chinese of the 19th century.  The colorful Lions, drummers and firecrackers were sponsored in part by The Nevada City Club. Pictured with the Lions is our own pP Bob Buhlis.
