Hold onto your Rotary pins — this club has been busier than a bee in a clover patch! While some people may be hitting slow-mo summer mode, our members have been out in full force, sleeves rolled up and hearts wide open, showing our community what Rotary service really looks like.
From helping the Nevada City Police Department with Hot Summer Nights and tending our pumpkin patch in preparation for Pumpkin Palooza in October, our crew has been proving that "summer break" is not in the Rotary vocabulary. And just when you think we might finally slow down? Nope — we're already buzzing about what's next.
National Night Out & Kids Color Fun Run is happening Tuesday, August 4th. Come join us so we can serve you fresh baked cookies and throw chalk at you! (Not simultaneously of course.) 😊
We are partnering with First 5 Nevada County at their Kids Corner during the Nevada County Fair where we will be handing out free books to kids of all ages as well as signing up the younglings aged 0-5 for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL), which is a free book gifting program that we are proud to be the founding sponsor of here in Nevada County. For more information on how to enroll your child, click Enroll and more on DPIL. If you would like to help us ensure this amazing program continues for many years to come, click Support DPIL.
On a more formal note: please remember there is NO MEETING this coming week as it’s the 5th Thursday of the month. Our next gathering will be our social meeting at Round Table Pizza on August 6th.
We have an ongoing lineup of events and projects coming this fall, all designed to support the neighbors, causes, and community we love. So, keep your calendar handy and your enthusiasm charged, because this Rotary club doesn't do "quiet season" — we do "let's make it count season" all year long.
This year’s National Night Out & Kids Color Fun Run returns to Pioneer Park in Nevada City on Tuesday, August 4 from 6:00pm-7:30pm.
Sign up now or contact Cathy directly, if you can volunteer!
Our local law enforcement agencies know how to throw a fabulous community party! NCPD Chief Dan Foss and Nevada City Police Department (NCPD) will again fire up their hot dog grill. Nevada City Rotarians will be serving fresh baked cookies to kids of all ages.
A crew of Club members have created a fun tradition participating in the Run of the Colors. This year we are also being asked to help staff color stations ~ so we get to throw the chalk too!
If you do participate in the Run of the Colors, you can get a free National Night Out t-shirt. And the chalk is washable.
We are heading into our last Wednesday evening on July 29, 2026 for our fun, uniquely Nevada City service opportunity. We are supporting fellow Rotarian, Chief Dan Foss and Nevada City Police Department. With no meeting on Thursday, come join us at Summer Nights!
Thank you Gayle, Cathy, Tom, Paula, Stacy, and Walt for stepping up last week.

We had an awesome presentation by Hilary Quinn of Northern Rural Energy Network (NREN). NREN offers energy efficiency programs to deliver cost savings and greater community resilience in rural Sierra Nevada and other Northern California areas.
Hilary offered free Energy Efficiency Kits ($100 value) and energy audits to anyone who signs up. Each kit is packed with easy-to-use items to upgrade your home and lower energy costs.
