We’re relieved that there’s no snow or rain forecast for the next week, and we can’t wait to enjoy the flowers that are starting to pop up.
April is chock full of projects and events. To start off, on April 13 we’ll have our first lunch meeting at a new restaurant, TJ’s Roadhouse. Be sure to read all about it below.
Then, on April 14 we are all invited to attend the open house at the NEO cafe to learn how the youth center café is being constructed. It’s in the basement of the Litton building. April 15 is the day for our Lithium Battery collection for recycling. Our club meeting on April 20 is very special - while enjoying our plant-rich pot luck dishes, we’ll be joined by the students who have founded our Interact Club at Sierra Academy for Expeditionary Learning (SAEL). We’ll present them with their Interact certification from RI and meet their families.
As if that’s not enough, our District 5190 Conference on April 28-30 promises to be a lot of fun. As you can see by the theme of The Gathering of the Clans (District Areas), we’ll hear fantastic speakers to discuss afterwards with beer and whisky tasting.
As of April 13, we are moving to TJ’s Roadhouse of Nevada City at the Creekside for 2nd and 4th Thursday 12:15pm lunch meetings.
As we transition to TJ’s Roadhouse for our noon meetings, some things will naturally change.
Each meeting, TJ’s will be giving us 3 menu items from which to choose. We’ll be publishing those choices in the Rotario and asking that each member and guest choose one item when they RSVP, using a similar method to the way we have been responding for our meetings at Bistro 221.
Each person attending will need to RSVP through our website by noon Wednesday the previous day, so that we can give TJ’s our total order the afternoon before our meeting.
The menu will include burgers, hot dogs, BLTs, beef dip, pulled pork, grilled cheese and other sandwiches, salads, etc. At least one vegetarian item will be available each week. Coffee and cold drinks will be included. Those who don’t order a meal will not count in the club 15-person minimum.
The cost for the meal will be $25 per person including tax and gratuity, payable to our treasurer at the meeting.
TJ’s doesn’t charge for the use of the room. Let’s be flexible and enjoy our new surroundings.
Take Charge! Recycle Lithium-Ion Batteries Responsibly.
Rotary Clubs of Western Nevada County and Redwood Materials are co-hosting our second community Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling collection in the parking lot of the Nevada County Rood Center from 10:00am - 2:00pm on Saturday April 15, 2023.
The public can drop off Lithium-ion rechargeable devices and batteries for recycling by Redwood Materials, a company that recycles the minerals and uses them to make new rechargeable batteries. Eligible items include cellphones, tablets, laptops, electric toothbrushes, e-shavers, vapes, wireless headphones, Bluetooth speakers, power tool batteries, video game controllers, etc.
Board Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month. Our next meeting will be April 10 at 4:00pm via Zoom.
Not a Board member but want to join us? Contact Robin or reply to this Rotario for instructions. All club members are encouraged to attend a meeting. Location subject to change, please ask.
