This is a laid-back week for us, as far as events go. Being the fifth Thursday of the month, we won’t be meeting on March 30.
But there’s a lot going on in the background, with preparation for a number of events in April and following months. Please read your Rotario carefully, and note the service projects and other activities that are coming up.
Then we’ll get together on April 6 at 5:30 PM at Round Table Pizza for socializing, and on April 13 for our first lunch meeting at TJ‘s Roadhouse (the former Lefty’s). looking forward to seeing you all then.
Nevada City Rotary has been partnering with the Rotary Club of Los Barriles Cabo Este on special projects communities around Los Barriles since April 2015, with the exception of 2021-2022 because of COVID. Fond memories run deep. This story shares reflections from several members of the 2023 team.
Cathy Wilcox-Barnes
I always look forward to seeing everyone in Los Barriles again and catching up on how they are and what they’ve been doing, but this year it was even better since we missed a couple of years because of Covid. It was touching and enlightening to hear how it affected people in different ways. The Rotary Club in Los Barriles is comprised of Americans, Canadians, and local Mexicans, and each was impacted differently. The camaraderie as Rotarians that we have developed over the years is something we will always treasure.
As of April 13, we are moving to TJ’s Roadhouse – formerly home to Lefty’s Grill at the bottom of Broad Street in Nevada City for 2nd and 4th Thursday 12:15pm lunch meetings.
We will be meeting in the front room adjacent to Sacramento Street. TJ's staff will work with our Club each week to choose 3 entrees to be offered for lunch. Members and guests will need to RSVP and specify their menu selection by noon on Wednesday, the day before our lunch meeting. The online RSVP process will be setup on our website similar to what we have used for Bistro 221. The cost will be $25 per person inclusive of tax and gratuity with a 15 person minimum.
Take Charge! Recycle Lithium-Ion Batteries Responsibly.
Rotary Clubs of Western Nevada County and Redwood Materials are co-hosting our second community Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling collection in the parking lot of the Nevada County Rood Center from 10:00am - 2:00pm on Saturday April 15, 2023.
The public can drop off Lithium-ion rechargeable devices and batteries for recycling by Redwood Materials, a company that recycles the minerals and uses them to make new rechargeable batteries. Eligible items include cellphones, tablets, laptops, electric toothbrushes, e-shavers, vapes, wireless headphones, Bluetooth speakers, power tool batteries, video game controllers, etc.
Board Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month. Our next meeting will be April 10 at 4:00pm via Zoom.
Not a Board member but want to join us? Contact Robin or reply to this Rotario for instructions. All club members are encouraged to attend a meeting. Location subject to change, please ask.
