A big thank-you to the staff at Foothills Compassionate Care for joining us at lunch last week and sharing such thoughtful, educational insight into the work they do. It's the kind of presentation that stays with you well after the meeting ends, and we're grateful they took the time to walk us through it.
We also had the honor of recognizing one of our own this week: congratulations to Tom Milam on receiving his Paul Harris +4 award, celebrating his outstanding generosity to the Rotary Foundation throughout his time in Rotary. Tom, your commitment doesn't go unnoticed — thank you for everything you've given to this organization and the causes it supports.
This week's club social is at Round Table Pizza, where Armando will be delivering his very first craft talk — a Rotary rite of passage we would not want you to miss. We'll also be inducting a new member into our club family: please join us in welcoming Susan Chalpin, sponsored by Nicole Dillard. Susan is a former 49er Rotarian who found that our club felt like the right fit for this next chapter of her Rotary journey, and we couldn't be happier to have her join us.
There's plenty more on the horizon, so keep those paintbrushes ready — our pumpkin painting parties are coming up Friday, September 18, 5:30-8:00pm and Saturday, September 19, 11:30am-2:00pm (bring your own snack), with all the details you need below. As we ease into fall, we're sending good wishes to everyone in our Rotary family for a warm, wonderful week ahead. This week pumpkin painting parties

Girls Who Code (GWC) launched a new year at Seven Hills Middle School last week! Carolyn Feuille is taking over as our Club GWC Chair. Seven Hills Middle School teacher Leslie May will again serve as the faculty lead for the program.
Carolyn and Ms May held an orientation for the students and parents for the Girls WhoCode Club last week at Seven Hills. Sixteen to eighteen girls grades 6 - 8, are signed up. They will learn how to code in several computer languages and be inspired by the stories of successful women in the tech industry. They will learn to support each other and work as a team.
Ms May is a very adept math and science teacher. She encourages her students to excel, have fun, and discover their technical aptitude.
She’s very pleased that the Nevada City Rotary Club provides snacks each week to help the girls sustain their energy and keep learning. It’s a great service opportunity for our Club members!
Carolyn is organizing the schedule for Club members to provide snacks for the GWC Club at 3:45pm each Tuesday through March with the potential to extend into May. We need Club members to participate in treating the girls! Please contact Carolyn to sign up for one or more GWC meetings through the Spring. Click for map to Seven Hills school.
Board Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month. Our next Board meeting is September 14 at 5:30pm via Zoom with President Andrea leading us.
Not a Board member but want to join us? Contact Robin or reply to this Rotario for instructions. All club members are encouraged to attend a meeting. Location/schedule is subject to change, please ask.
