Nevada City Rotary is pleased to welcome our new City Manager as guest speaker for our first 5:30pm social at The National Exchange Hotel Thursday August 4, 2022.Sean Grayson was appointed as the City Manager is Nevada City in February of 2022 bring his public service career full circle, returning home.
Sean was raised in Nevada City and was a valedictorian graduate of Nevada Union High School. As a high school athlete Sean was drawn to the team sport aspect of the fire service and entered public service employment more than 27 years ago as a firefighter paramedic. Sean has had assignments in both operational and administrative capacities, including serving in essentially every rank in the fire service, culminating with his appointment as Fire Chief in the City of Rialto.
Based on his performance in citywide strategic planning and team building efforts, the Rialto City Council twice requested that Sean serve as the Interim City Manager. Most recently leading the City through the challenges of COVID-19. Sean has served as the Interim Director of Community Services, Community Development, and Public Works during his public service career. Adept at both crisis management and long-term planning, Sean has provided leadership and team development to essentially every municipal department in full-service cities.
Sean has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public service leadership and he is a credentialed leadership facilitator. Sean, Vanessa his wife of 25 years (also a Nevada Union graduate), and their seven children are looking forward to moving to Nevada City this year (but it is really hard to find a house right now 😊).
