Baraka Anderson, a 10th grader at Sierra Academy (SAEL) represented Area 4 at the District 5190 Music Contest at Conference on April 29. A very talented pianist, Baraka placed third in the District competion. He played Shumann’s quite difficult piece “Fantasiestucke.” Winners shown left to right include first place winner ($1,000 prize) who is an accomplished violinist, second place ($500) also a pianist, and Baraka who won a $300 prize.Baraka’s video entry to the Area 4 Young Musician’s Competition hosted by Music in the Mountains and Rotary can be viewed at the Baraka Anderson performance.
Baraka’s mother Juliet, expressed her appreciation for his experience at the District Music Contest through Gayle Denney. “It was gorgeous day! Thank you so much! What a great experience for Baraka! So much appreciation to the Rotary club!
