Baraka Anderson, a 10th grader at Sierra Academy (SAEL) represented Area 4 at the District 5190 Music Contest at Conference on April 29.  A very talented pianist, Baraka placed third in the District competion.  He played Shumann’s quite difficult piece “Fantasiestucke.”  Winners shown left to right include first place winner ($1,000 prize) who is an accomplished violinist, second place ($500) also a pianist, and Baraka who won a $300 prize.

Baraka’s mother Juliet, expressed her appreciation for his experience at the District Music Contest through Gayle Denney. “It was gorgeous day! Thank you so much! What a great experience for Baraka! So much appreciation to the Rotary club!
