Amazing talent adorned the Stone Hall of Miners Foundry with pumpkins of all genres! Beautiful, wacky, sophisticated, clever, mysterious ... so much fun!

A big thanks to all who made it happen: Cathy, Judy, Tom and all our farmers, artists, Club members, partners, and community!

Enjoy start to finish in our Pumpkin Patch 2025 album.

Pumpkins For Polio Plus - AKA Pumpkins Palooza Project

Earlier this year the Nevada City Council approved a creative, visionary proposal by City Manager Sean Grayson and Cathy for the City, Public Arts Commission, Chamber of Commerce, and merchants of Nevada City to partner with Nevada City Rotary to host a very special city-wide Pumpkins for Polio and More event this fall. Merchants will be displaying painted pumpkins in their windows around town in the days leading up to our annual Pumpkins for Polio and More Auction at Miners Foundry, on Wednesday, October 15 starting at 5:30pm.

BakBraken Acres
What: Hands and fun spirit needed to tend to our pumpkins in the patch at BakBraken Acres Farm.
When: Throughout the summer, our team will be on site working from 7:30-10am. Show up between 7:30 and 9am if you are not an early riser. We typically wrap up by 10am.
Pitch in for a couple hours or as long as you can stay.
Where: 14283 Judy Ln, Grass Valley, CA 95945

Directions:Take Hwy 174 from Grass Valley to Powerline Rd (well before Chicago Park). Turn right and follow Powerline Rd until it becomes gravel, aka Judy Ln. Please note 10 MPH speed limit on gravel road. Take first left that is clearly a drive and follows the fence.

Heads up: Google Maps or Siri may try to route you via Meadow Drive – it takes you there via a more circuitous, ?scenic? route.

The pierce aroma of rosemary, lavender, and eucalyptus filled the area around our pumpkin patch on Saturday July 5 as Cathy, Judy, Ken, Tom R, Walt, George and Robin plugged gopher holes with essential oil drenched cotton balls and fresh herb twigs.
Judy is planning special pumpkin painting classes for September to prepare the city and local artists for our October pumpkin extravaganza. Watch for details!

Two long rows of pumpkins are now in the ground with irrigation lines laid. The plants are at different stages of development but most are growing fast. As the summer unfolds, the pumpkin plants need frequent tender care and attention.

Saturday June 28 Cathy, Tom R, Giudita, George, Kelly, Dave, Pearce, Paula, and Robin came out to check irrigation lines, gently weed, and care for the plants. Thanks to Farmer John’s generosity the crew left with bundles of freshly harvested garlic and handpicked raspberries, blackberries, and youngberries.

Cathy, Tom, Giudita and George have been the dedicated force behind getting an abundant crop of pumpkins planted for this year’s project. Cathy put out a call for assistance Saturday June 21, Paula, Walt, Gloria and Robin joined the crew to get much of the irrigation lines installed.

On July 9 we had a crew of 12 at the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday. Pumpkins are expanding in to a great crop! Lookin' good. A big thanks to all our farmers! Enjoy our Pumpkin Patch 2025 album.
