Dear Rotarians and Friends,
This Week - 5th Thursday is DARK
Because this is a 5th Thursday in the month, we will not be meeting this week. I hope you take the time to reenergize after this week's PG&E PSPS! We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday November 5 at our 5:30pm Social.
By the time we meet again, Election 2020 will be done. If you have not already cast your ballot, I encourage you to do so.
World Polio Day 2020 ~ Saturday October 24 10am-1pm
Journalist Ed Murrow: "Who owns the patent on this vaccine?" Jonas Salk: "Well, the people, I would say. There is no patent. Could you patent the sun?" - Jonas Salk, medical researcher and developer of polio vaccine (Birthday today ~ 28 October 1914-1995)
Thanks to Cathy, Chris, Lynda, Karen, Carolyn Feuille, Robin, Doug, Dennis, Tom Ryan, and yours truly. It was a beautiful day for us to meet in downtown Nevada City to celebrate World Polio Day and spread the word that the wild poliovirus is close to eradication with cases in only two countries after Nigeria was declared polio free in August 2020.
More about our club’s participation in World Polio Day can be seen on our Facebook page, and we expect to see District-wide recognition next month when the District 5190 newsletter focuses on happenings in Area 4.
Paul Harris Recognition
Saturday morning was also a great opportunity to surprise Dennis Geare with the presentation of his Paul Harris +2 pin in recognition of his support of The Rotary Foundation. Congratulations Dennis, and thanks for all you do for our club, for District 5190, and for Rotary in general!

Your Happy/Sad Shares make a difference!
Your Happy/Sad shares give us glimpses of what is going on in your life beyond Rotary. They are special moments together especially since so much of our time is on Zoom. Your associated "bucks" provide a base for us to continue our special services to our community and beyond. Thanks for sharing you!
Each month, Treasurer Tom distributes an invoice plus a statement indicating you have an overdue balance when appropriate. Please follow the Four Way Test with your pledges to our Club! If you have questions, Tom R is happy to discuss your statement with you.
Stay connected and informed
Robin monitors our news@ncrotary.org email. You can direct questions to that email or to me. As we learn more and to stay in touch, we will send out regular or more frequent Rotarios.
