Tracy Pepper ~ Color Me Human
The action continues . . .
This week our Club begins Phase 3 of our support for the Food Bank of Nevada County, following up on our canned food pallet donation and our drive-through food collection day. On Wednesday March 3, a team of six Club members will go to the Food Bank facility to put together food packages for home delivery. We will follow this up with a second work session on Wednesday March 17. Congratulations and thanks to all in the Club who saw a need in our community, then stepped up to take action to address this need! Haven't signed up but want to participate? Please contact Susie at MonaryWilson@msn.com.
The "You" in Club Membership
A big Thank You to Membership Chair Cathy for her great presentation last week. Cathy’s survey and her analysis of member input is essential for making sure that Club leadership is meeting the needs of the Club membership. In spite of all the obstacles thrown in our way by the COVID-19 pandemic, our Club stays engaged, connected, and in action to serve our community. Cathy’s program was validation that we are doing well as a Club.
Color Me Human with Executive Director Tracy Pepper
For our program this week, we welcome back Tracy Pepper. At her last visit with our Club, Tracy told of of the work of Community Beyond Violence. This week Tracy and Daniela Fernández, Director of Programs will update us on their important advocacy work with Color Me Human.
Color Me Human is a local nonprofit that works to dismantle systems of oppression within ourselves and within our institutions. Led by a multi-racial, multi-cultural team we celebrate and support the under-resourced communities in California’s second whitest county. Through community education, cross movement solidarity building, capacity building, and crisis response we aim to eliminate harm inflicted on people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals in Nevada County.
Tracy Pepper is the founder and Executive Director of Color Me Human. She is a graduate of the University of Phoenix in Business Management and holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from Cal State Fresno. Tracy is a retired law enforcement officer who spent her career in community service at the local, state, and national level.
Daniela Fernández is Director of Programs for Color Me Human and serves on the City Council of Nevada City. For over 15 years Daniela worked in social services with a variety of different communities - seniors, adults with disabilities, queer youth, people of color, and incarcerated women and their families. She worked as a Community Engagement Specialist with our local non-profit Connecting Point supporting the independence of seniors and people with disabilities.
