Dear Rotarians and Friends,
Thursday March 31, 5th Thursday
We are DARK -- No meeting this week!
Saturday April 2 - Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling 10 - 2:30pm
Litton Engineering Parking Lot
Tell friends and neighbors!!!
What a fabulous Sunday afternoon was spent at the Miner’s Foundry as Dennis Geare and Carol Scofield put on an incredible event, sponsored by our five area clubs, honoring and paying tribute to our local heroes who stood their ground getting us through the pandemic, fires and snowmageddon these past two years. Robin put together a wonderful RI Showcase project with pictures, facts and figures and will probably give you more insight than me going on about it here so check out Rotary Honors People of Action. All I can say is that we have a tremendous community and you don’t have to take my word for it, just ask anyone who serves it or lives in it. Many thanks to all.
Everybody probably knows that this is a fifth Thursday so we will be dark this week, but that does not mean that we will be taking the week off. This Saturday, April 2nd, we will be having our first Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling event in the parking lot of the Litton Building from 10am-2:30pm and all Nevada City Rotarians are invited to put on your Rotarian at Work shirt and join us along with members of other clubs in the area to direct traffic, help with the collection, meet and greet those dropping off their rechargeable batteries and hang out with some of your very best friends. If you’d like to help out come on by at 9:30 and if you don’t have a lot of time to spend, come by when you can and spend the time that you have. Don’t forget to bring your old rechargeable batteries. A big thank you to Chris Newsom and her committee for making this happen and to Redwood Materials for helping with organization and for picking up what we collect and actually doing the recycling.
By the time we have our next meeting, a hybrid on April 7 to hear John Katis of Gold Country Senior Services speak, Dave and Gayle will have returned from Hawaii, we’ll have a new storage unit at the Litton Building for our stuff, you all will have registered for District Conference and Walt will be older. That certainly doesn’t sound like a week off to me. I’m looking forward to seeing and hanging out with you all soon.
Sign up for District Conference and let’s have a party in South Lake Tahoe.

How you can support Ukrainians
THE ROTARY FOUNDATION CREATES CHANNEL FOR DIRECT HUMANITARIAN SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE REGION
In response to the deepening humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, The Rotary Foundation has created an official channel for Rotary members around the world to contribute funds to support the relief efforts underway by Rotary districts and has designated its Disaster Response Fund as the main avenue for contributions.
Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund in support of Ukraine can be made here. All funds need to be received into the Disaster Response Fund by 30 April 2022 in order to qualify for use in support of the Ukrainian relief efforts. Our Club donated $1,000 in honoring John Hewko. With membership contributions, Nevada City Rotary has donated over $3,000 through TRF for Ukraine support.
Make a special donation or designate your annual donation to the Disaster Response Fund, Polio Plus, or Annual Fund of The Rotary Foundation.

You will not be billed for your Happy Sad/Bucks pledges. We ask that you track your own pledges and submit your payment at the end of each month.
