Dear Rotarians and Friends,
Thursday June 17, 2021 - Social 5:30pm
Ramona Howard, Exec Director/Station Manager - Nevada County Media
As Summer heats up, my term as President of our Club is coming to an end. Soon I will hand over the bell and gavel to our able co-Presidents Tom Ryan and Dave Denney.
Just an hour or so ago, we concluded our final Board meeting of the 2020-2021 year, ending with my heartfelt thanks to all of our Club members who have served on the Board this year.
One of our topics of discussion was Club dues and I’m happy to report that annual Club dues will stay at the $171 rate. Treasurer Tom Ryan will be sending out invoices and payment schedule for dues very soon.
Ramona Howard, Exec Director/Station Manager - Nevada County Media
Nevada County has a true jewel with Nevada County Media. Ramona Howard is Executive Director/Station Manager and the overall creative production force behind the media center!
A native Californian, Ramona's career has taken a variety of paths. She and her son co-founded a computer software / production business that led them into the film industry and developing components for AJA Video. While living in Oakdale, Ramona worked with the Tourism Bureau creating events and expanding their marketing. In 2017, she took on the Executive Director position at the Nevada County Digital Center to help revamp the organization which we now know as Nevada County Media.
Nevada County Media is home to 10,000 square feet of collaboration and creation spaces.
Nevada County Media serves the public interest by fostering collaboration around creative expression. The Center operates three cable channels, several on-demand channels, a Learning Academy, and a production team that are available for hire. The state of the art production facility is available for our member community to utilize. This year Rotary District 5190, Hospice, Bear Yuba Land Trust and other local organizations have used their production facilities to create videos and in some cases actually produce "virtual" events from the Center.
You’ll find two 2,000 sq ft. production/event studios, two 500 sq ft. smaller studios, four private editing rooms, control-rooms for live editing and streaming events, a large lounge, ample parking, high-speed internet, lighting, cameras, audio equipment, projectors, and more. The facility provides the space and tools for both audio and video recording.
Discovering NC Media was a MAJOR turning point for the RALLYE production team! We could not have created the production we did without Ramona Howard and Nevada County Media!

Food Bank of Nevada County -
Fresh Produce Project
Our fresh produce deliveries to the Food Bank have started. Last week Cathy, Carolyn, Nancy, Tom and Robin packed food boxes for home delivery. Included in the boxes were bags of fresh salad mix from First Rain Farm. The salad was purchased as part of our local produce grant for the Food Bank.
On Thursday this week a team goes in to pack summer lunches for youth who are now on summer break from school.
