Dear Rotarians and Friends,
Thursday December 16, 2021 - 5:30pm Social
With Shavati Kharki-Pearl, Waste Management &
David Garcia, Nevada County Solid Waste Division
ZOOM ONLY Due to SNOW
3rd Floor, 200 Litton Drive, Grass Valley ~ On: Google Map
A Jolly White Week ...
The first major snowfall of the year brought about 8” to us on Pasquale Road, and more is coming on Wednesday. With this beautiful weather happening but challenging access, we co-presidents made a decision that Thursday’s meeting will be Zoom only. Look forward to seeing all of you in your little squares.
The jolliness of our recent Rotary Christmas party definitely contributed to Rotary fellowship which, along with service, is why we value our organization. Thanks again to Judy and Cathy for organizing a tasty potluck and fun and games amid festive decorations, last week!
Looking forward to this week’s program from Shavati Kharki-Pearl and David Garcia regarding changes at Waste Management and Nevada County’s involvement with the landfill’s operation. Because of Rotary’s new avenue of service and our club’s new service project regarding plastic film, our members have increased our awareness of local recycling issues.
Wishing all of you and yours happiness during this holiday season.
Los Barriles, Mexico awaits us again for the Healthy Water Project
Our work project with our partner club, the Los Barriles Cabo de Este Rotary Club, will take place from Feb. 17-19, with travel & recreation days before and after. What’s new this year is to devote our time, energy and learning to two projects: The Healthy Water Project and health screening for school kids.
For more details and the District registration form, we created a page on our website. Go to our NCRotary.org site and visit D5190 2022 Clean Water Project under International in the left sidebar. Please contact Carolyn Feuille with your questions: email@example.com and phone 650-867-4564.
Rotary Climate Action Team Network COP26 Review - After Glasgow: Where are we now?
After diplomats, scientists, lobbyists, activists, artists, the media, politicians and business people gathered in Glasgow for COP26, it might be easy to dismiss the entire affair. That would be a mistake. To understand the results and issues, we turn to experts who were there or tracked the output of Glasgow closely. On December 16 RCAT Network Global Forum has a three-person panel focused on Glasgow.
The panel will include: Karen Kendrick-Hands (ESRAG), Elizabeth Bagley (SEI) and Rick Wayman (Fdn for Climate Restoration). The moderator for this event will be Gary White (Climate Reality Project).

Recycling bins around town
We have collected over 350 lbs of plastics!!! Add your clean stretchable plastics to our bins around town - Briar Patch, B&C, the Library, Restore, Nevada City and Wolfcreek/Grass Valley CoHousing or bring them to Robin at our hybrid meetings.
Your Dues and Happy/Sad Shares make a difference!
Your Happy/Sad shares give us glimpses of what is going on in your life beyond Rotary. They are special moments together especially since so much of our time is on Zoom. Your associated "bucks" provide a base for us to continue our special services to our community and beyond. Thanks for sharing you and for following the Four Way Test with your Happy Buck pledges to our Club!
Stay connected and informed
