Rotario - September 1, 2016

Dear Rotarians and Friends,

Welcome to our latest Rotario newsletter. Once again it is a pleasure keeping you informed of our club activities in the coming weeks.

This Week's Social /  Mixer

This week's speaker is Carolyn Feuille, our club member who has recruited four of this year's RYLA campers to describe their experiences at RYLA. Participants include Rose McGill, Caitlin Mayes, Caroline Voorhees, and Molly Shine.   Carolyn will provide additional insight, since she was a RYLA camp counselor this Summer as well.

Last Week's Luncheon - Michelle Barnhart, fitness trainer

Michelle, who has a unique in-home personal training business, was able to describe how she visits a potential client's home and do a "fitness evaluation" during the intial visit.  She went on to describe some of the exercises that would be assigned to a client, depending on their ability to perform them without fear of injury. Michelle stessed the increasing need for all of us to maintain good "core strength" as we age, since this is a key requirement to maintain a healthy sense of balance. As you can see from the photo, President Walt is still working on his sense of balance, while demonstrating the use of a "balance board", one of the workout items that Michelle is able to bring into a client's home for use as part of a training session. Michelle also provides free weights and a rubber mat for all those "abdominal" exercises she teaches to finish out each session.

The schedule of meetings and events coming up in the near future are listed below.
