Quote of the Week
The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be what we pretend to be.
What a pleasure it was to have pP Allan Rogers lead our meeting last week! Needless to say we started by singing, "God Bless America", followed by snippets about his year as president. It was the first year of the Fair food booth; chile and corn chips were served. The booth was across Treat Street from the current booth and was destroyed after only one year by a fallen tree. Allan also shared that he had made friends with a fellow Rotarian when he was in Australia who later raised in excess of $40,000 in the U.S. and Australia for water facilities in Fiji. Allan, we are looking forward to the next time you lead us in another nostalgic and entertaining meeting!
Former member Kevin Cookson (although the raffle winner, he had no luck with the card match) and now a member of The Nevada City 49er Breakfast Club was a guest. The local 4-H president was present to talk briefly about what 4-H does and to confirm an interest in working with our club on the maintenance of the Miners Trail. Kelly Christensen was also a guest, but quickly lost her guest status by being inducted with the classification of Automotive Services. The induction was conducted by pP Carolyn Inglis who was assisted by Kelly's sponsor, Laura van den Berg. Welcome, Kelly!
Joey Bratton from FitCulture Studio presented an informational series of concepts to assist with healthy eating, exercise and weight loss or gain. He provided things to think about when it comes to fat loss nutrition, questions we should ask when we choose our food, and concepts to consider when adding exercise to achieve fat loss and shaping. He also talked about recommended supplements when it comes to fat loss and simple habits to follow. Details of Joey's nutrituional aids can downloaded here.
