Quote of the Week
Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.
Week Two of the "Year of the Geare" for Rotary in Nevada City with President Dennis is certainly "In Geare" with the routine of running a meeting! The beginning of a new year is always chock full of more tasks than is fair for a president to handle, but so far all is well; we are off to a great start!
An interesting and informative program was presented by Rhonda Herrin, Development Director for the Center for the Arts. Besides sharing the history and vision of the center, Rhonda shared the history and evolution of the building where the center is housed. She further shared that the center has expanded itself beyond the original vision into supporting other arts within the community. One of their projects includes a fund raiser to honor veterans by purchasing new seats for the Grass Valley Veterans Hall. There is a movement afloat for a Rotary Club outing to support another of the center's fundraisers, "Dancing with our Stars" on August 23. Save the date!
Barry Turner, DDS, and a member of the Rotary Club of Nevada City 49er was our only visiting Rotarian. George Rebane graciously served as our greeter and President Dennis was the raffle winner, but, alas, did not match cards.

Lat Weekend ~ Saturday Work Party at the Fair Booth
A BIG thank you to our Treat Street cleanup crew including Glen Foley, Laura van den Berg, Gayle Denney, Walt Stickel, Carolyn and Mike Inglis, Tom and Robin Milam who scrubbed, mopped, and sanitized our booth on Saturday. After a long wet winter, a lot more than elbow grease went into today’s work!
Walt Stickel has been clamoring for a mister system to cool the front so he bought one for us. Mike Inglis started the installation which he and Tom Milam plan to complete tomorrow. Thanks to Gayle, Carolyn, Walt and Gary Gustafson who are contributing the funds for our new feature. During the heat of the Fair we will all be happy especially if it draws new customers!

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?"
The eagle answered: "Sure , why not."
So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.
Moral of the story:
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.
