Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club.
Meeting weekly helps members keep in touch with each other and organize club projects. In addition, frequent complementary activities are planned to strengthen the club, including holiday parties, a president demotion party, fundraisers and special events. Our 1st and 3rd Thursday Merchant Socials are at 5:30pm. During the relaxed "mixer format" each week a local merchant is highlighted. Then on 2nd and 4th Thursdays we meet for lunch at 12:15pm. Zoom is our venue for now. We hope to return to the Station at the Northern Queen for our Club meetings once it is safe to do so.
During the COVID pandemic our focus has been keeping our community safe and healthy. We have partnered with Nevada County Masked Warriors to distribute free masks at drive-through events and with Nevada County Health Services to support their drive through flu clinic and distribute free masks.
Another fundraiser is the Nevada City Rotary Food Booth at the Nevada County Fair. Our club built the fairbooth in the early eighties and originally sold Jalapeno Poppers. After several menu changes, we now serve pulled-pork sandwiches and chicken sandwiches. There is no other event in our Club that brings members closer together. It is a social fundraising event in all aspects.
