Aimee Retzler, Executive Director, co-founded Sierra Harvest after she had lunch with her kindergartner at school and noticed how much food was going to waste leaving kids hungry. She was curious as to why a community that is surrounded by an abundance of agriculture, wasn’t feeding kids nutrient-dense, locally grown foods that were delivered in an educational way. Her passion for making sure kids get the best food possible is what fueled her to begin the farm-to-school program in Nevada County. She has guided the activities of Sierra Harvest since October 2008, building the organization from a grassroots community coalition to a sustainable nonprofit. |

Healthy Conversations: The Start of the Solution

Before Ray became Rotary District 5180 Governor for the year 2019-2020, he realized that he had an interesting and unique background growing up and living in different parts of the US. Due to his background, he has met and become friends with a variety of individuals from different ethnic, religious, and gender backgrounds and was able to get along with them. This program is about what Ray has learned from these experiences and his perceptions of how to move forward in an environment of detest and distrust. Join us as Ray leads a very important discussion on different aspects of conversations and how conversions can be used to find solutions. |

Recognition of Rotarian generosity through The Rotary Foundation

Grass Valley Rotary will be hosting a simplified version of the Foundation Recognition Dinner on Monday June 12th at the Wild Eye Pub in Grass Valley. The event is free to attend and attendees can order directly off the Wild Eye Pub regular menu and pay the restaurant directly. Reservations are requested by June 7th.

Join us every 1st and 3rd Thursday at 5:30pm for our twice monthly in-person social at Round Table Pizza at 686 Sutton Way, near Staples in the Brunswick basin. Agenda generally highlights a local business, includes an engaging speaker and/or enjoy dialogue with fellow Rotarians, friends, family and guests. Join us every 2nd and 4th Thursday at 12:15pm for our twice monthly lunch meeting. Agenda generally includes an engaging speaker and friendly dialogue with fellow Rotarians, friends, family and guests.
At TJs Roadhouse, lunch includes a choice of entrees selected by the chefs for a fixed price of $25 (including tax and tip); Want to join us but not eat, we will have a $10 minimum (including tax and tip).
