On behalf of our club members and our board, I want to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to PP Tom Ryan and PP/PDG Dave Denney, who have stepped forward to lead our Rotary Club of Nevada City as Co-Presidents for the 2021-2022 Rotary year! Tom will serve as primary and Dave will partner with Tom as Co-President.
Tom Ryan is familiar to all of us as our Past President from two years ago and current treasurer. Tom joined our club in August 2016 as a Past President of Playa Venice Rotary.
Dave Denney, in addition to his role as District 5190 Governor in 2001-2002, has served our club in many ways over the years. He was Club President in 1988-1989, and has since fulfilled multiple leadership roles, stepping up to support the club when called to serve.
I’m looking forward to working with Tom and Dave as they guide us through the year ahead.
Our club is small but mighty. We are respected in our Area 4 and District 5190 as a club that is in action and always looking for ways to serve our community.
We have met the challenges thrown at us by a global pandemic by finding new ways to continue our meetings and fellowship, new ways to serve our community such as our current partnership with Nevada County Food Bank, and we continue our support of international partners through monetary support of health services in Baja and now a scholarship for a young indigenous girl in Guatemala who is seeking to become a doctor.
We are eagerly looking forward to the time when we can resume face-to-face meetings and the resumption of all the local youth and community service programs that we have had so much fun supporting.
Local clubs are the heart of Rotary, and leadership of local clubs is an essential and rewarding part of the Rotary experience. To provide direction as club President for the group of people that make up our club is a privilege and honor.
Once again, I give my sincere thanks to Tom and Dave for offering to lead our club next year. Please join me in welcoming and supporting them!
