This Week Area 4 Foundation Dinner - October 25 6:00pm

Our regular meeting is moved to the  Area 4 Foundation Dinner on Thursday evening at Gold Mines Inn. We will be treated at the dinner with one of Rotary’s premier speakers, J.T. Capps.  DG Tina Spencer-Mulhern and her husband Brian will also be with us.  We will be catered by Antonio. Dinner is $50 per person.

Area 4 will be celebrating the global impact of the Rotary Foundation and all of our Club's Paul Harris Fellows including our newest Nancy Knaus and Tom Milam along with Cathy Wilcox-Barnes. Cathy received her ruby studded Paul Harris Fellow pen in recognition of her PHF +6, that is her seventh Paul Harris Award.

Foundation Dinner Message from DG Tina

Brian and I are looking forward to being at your area Foundation Dinner on October 25th.  The presentation by PDG John T Capps will definitely be an evening you do not want to miss.  PDG Doug McDonald will also be present to present your Foundation giving banners for 2017-2018.

Last year when I was in San Diego at the International Assembly, I had the opportunity to purchase President Barry Rassin's official theme tie.  Well I purchased 13 of them and President Barry autographed each one.  I will be auctioning them off at the area Foundation Dinners.  If you are unable to be at the dinner and would like to submit a bid just let me know. I have attached a picture of the tie for you to see. These ties are not able to be purchased by any of the RI vendors.  They are only sold to the DGs at this event so they are pretty special.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Tina Spencer-Mulhern
District Governor 2018

Last week - Nathan Leishman Craft Talk

What more can you say!  Nathan delighted us with his life adventurers at last week's social!  Nathan is an impressive world traveler and financial consultant!  He took us around the world with his emerging market financial analysis work, across Mexico on his mission, and then to snowy Boston where he met Stephanie. Nathan and Stephanie recently moved to California for warmer weather and to be closer to family ~ especially Nathan's who have gathered in Grass Valley.

Sugarloaf Mountain project with Twin Ridges School

Students from the Twin Ridges Home Study Charter school, along with a teacher, parents, and Nevada City Rotary club members, picked up trash and cleaned up the SugarLoaf Mountain trail above the Forest Service office in Nevada City last Friday. They did a beautiful job. Prior to the cleanup project they listened to Ranger Brian Donnely talking about the Forest Service and Forest safety.

Club Visit with DG Tina - November 1

Our annual District Governor meeting with DG Tina is scheduled for Thursday November 1 5:30pm Club Social.

Please let President Tom know what you plan to donate for our Polio basket.  In support of Rotary's End Polio Now initiative, DG Tina will bring a basket from the Rotary Club of Jackson to raffle at our Club meeting with her.  We will be presenting a basket for Tina to take to the Rotary Club of Minden the following week.  We are planning a special basket for her to leave with and are asking members to get creative and contribute items for the basket.

Board Members please mark your calendars for a special Board Meeting with DG Tina at 4:00pm on Thursday November 1. Executive Team will meet with DG Tina at 3:30pm.
