Rotario - October 10, 2019

 Dear Rotarians and Friends,

Thursday, October 10, 2019
12:15pm Lunch: Dennis Geare on Ethics Through Rotary ~ A Conversation

Trolley Junction at Northern Queen Hotel
400 Railroad Avenue, Nevada City

Spectacular Rotary Colors!

Do you love the beginning of Fall as much as I do? I can’t help but notice the crisp bite in the air and the trees beginning to adorn themselves with bright orange, yellow and red leaves. In Nevada City and throughout Nevada County there are some trees that just catch your attention and make you stop and take notice of them. Are we that way as Rotarians? Are we out in the community in such a noticeable way that people stop and take notice? We have some really great things happening in our Club. We have Community, Youth and International Service projects that draw people’s attention. We’ve begun planning for our 2nd Annual Hungry Games. We have a ‘Give Polio the Boot’ walk coming up on October 24th that can certainly make motorists stop and take notice. We have a chance to educate people on Rotary’s efforts to eradicate Polio and how close we are. But, to do all this, it takes each and every one of us being involved. Whether it’s just showing up to be a cheering section, showing up to hand out information, showing up to walk or rake or mentor or just attend a Club meeting. There are so many ways we can put on our “colors” and catch someone’s attention. What do you say – are you ready to help make this Fall Rotary spectacular!

This Week: Our own Dennis Geare ~ Ethics Through Rotary

This Week: Our own Dennis Geare ~ Ethics Through Rotary

Join us this week for an engaging focus on Ethics Through Rotary ~ A Conversation led by Past President/AG Dennis Geare who serves as our District 5190 Ethics Chair.  Dennis is bringing home the session he led last week at Avenues of Service. We repeat the 4 Way Test each week, but how often do we stop to really think about what it means in Rotary, in our personal lives and in business.  Ethics reflects the true colors of who we are as Rotary.

Note ~ we are aware of PG&Es potential safety outage.  We are planning to meet on Thursday unless PG&E shuts down power in town. Watch this space for further notice.

Rotary Connects John and Susie with the World!

John Wilson at Rotary display in Fort George ScotlandJohn and Susie Monary-Wilson are discovering just how much Rotary Connects the World as they vacation in Scotland. They visited Fort George in Scotland, the northern most military fort in the UK founded in 1746, and spotted a Rotary display!

Last Week Dan Biebelheimer- Clinica Filadelfia Global Project of 49’er Rotary Club in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico

Dan Biebelheimer was joined by Dr Chris Claydon as he shared the work of the Clinica Filadelfia Project  The project is hosted by 49er Rotary and supported by a Rotary Global Grant.  The intention of the current effort is to upgrade and update aging critical equipment.  Over the past 20 years, Luke Medical Foundation helped establish their surgical program and dental facilities, providing equipment and training as well as funding for development and also funding for surgical treatment of the indigent. This facility supports the specialty and extended care needs to not only the local community in this poor region but also the surrounding communities where the staff and volunteers conduct outreach clinics.
