Erin Lewis- Update on National Hotel reconstruction

Thank you to Erin Lewis for an informed update on The National Exchange Hotel and Holbrooke Hotel.  Acme Hospitality, has opened and managed eight properties with property owner Eastern Real Estate. Together they are moving ahead with restoration.  Erin shared photos of the National Hotel during its "demolition" phase which included pulling out double floors and ceilngs added over the years to accommodate the installation of indoor plumbing and other modern aminities. Many discoveries have been made along the way to slow restoration as the National was stripped back to its skeleton structure in most areas.

Erin and Acme Hospitality are looking for interior photos of the National during its earlier years.  If you have photos that show original or period decor please contact Erin at

Proposed new member Greg Geare

Talk about family.  Michael and Greg are happy Grandfathers together since their son and daughter married. Then at Greg's first meeting he and Dennis Geare discovered their grandfathers are brothers. Professionallly, Greg is a retired social worker from Humboldt County focusing on child welfare.  We look forward to inducting Greg this week!
