'Tis the Season for Gifts and Holiday Merry Making!
Remember Amazon Smile gives .5% of every purchase to Nevada City Rotary if you are signed up!!! Sign up through http://smile.amazon.com/ to earn money for our Club while you shop on Amazon.com. You will need to specifically select "Rotary Club of Nevada City Foundation" under "Pick Your Own Charitable Organization". Shopping is done via Smile.Amazon.com rather than Amazon.com but the items and buying experience are exactly the same.
We are especially mindful for those who are less fortunate. This holiday season our Club will be collecting non-perishable foods to deliver to our local Food Bank. Bring your donations of canned or other non-perishable foods to Club meetings through the month of December. Each week as donations warrant, we will deliver locally.
Special Holiday Request - URGENT BY DEC 4!
We have just received a special request. Victor Community Support Services has an urgent need for toys to distribute to 85 LOCAL Nevada City, Grass Valley, Penn Valley and area kids ages 5 – 85. Unfortunately Toys for Tots is in a leadership transition and was not able to do their annual collection and distributions. Victor Services has just learned that they will not be getting gifts to distribute to the kids at their Christmas party next Thursday (same time as ours).
They are seeking donations of cash or toys/games – preferably cash at this point and they will buy the gifts. Donations are tax deductible and can be delivered to the Victor Community Support Services at:
900 East Main Street, Suite #201 (below golf course)
Grass Valley, CA 95945 (530) 273-2244 phone
Learn more about them at: http://www.victor.org/victor-community-support-services/grass-valley
Last Week ~ The Foundation Dinner!
Rotary Foundation Dinner last week a delightfully humorous Jean Irwin as our guest speaker. We had 20 Rotarians and guests from our Club joining a group of 170 from Area 4 plus DG Joe Z and wife Cheryl! Valerie Cassity wowed us all signing our National Anthem!
DG Joe Z recognized George Rebane as a Foundation "Champion" for his perpetual support of both Rotary International Foundation and our local Nevada City Rotary Foundation. George is a Major Donor who each year contributes multiple PH awards in his own name and for Jo Ann. Congratulations and many, many thanks George and Jo Ann!
