Dear Rotarians and Friends,
Follow Cathy's End Polio Now trek with updates every few days at Make History Today ~ End Polio Once and For All!. Cathy has already hiked more than 150 miles and in lots of rain!
Sea You At The Fair! It is Fair Week!!!
Bring on the Fair! PP Walt and Tom Ryan took food delivery from Sysco today and stacked the walk-in cooler with 770 pounds of pork, 250 pounds of chicken, 180 pounds of coleslaw, 2800 buns, and 400 bottles of water.
As of this weekend, our Fair Schedule is filled!!! Thank you to all for signing up and calling in friends and familiy. Please note, with Fair Week upon us, if you need to change your shift schedule, we need you to be responsible for finding a replacement and notifying your shift captain in advance. Thank you for your support and understanding! Visit Fair Schedule for the updated schedule.
Robin distributed tickets for your scheduled work days at our pre-Fair picnic. For those not at the picnic or who not made other arrangements, tickets were mailed on Friday. You should receive them by Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Check your mailbox! If you have not received your tickets for the days of your shifts, contact Robin. We have a small number of tickets for emergency replacements.
We had a fun time at our annual picnic. Thank you PP Dave Bunje for your trivia quiz on the history of our booth and participation in the Nevada County Fair. Thank you Tom Coleman for again providing pulled pork, buns and coleslaw! And thanks to everyone for bringing delicious desserts, salads and vegies to share!
"Best table" decoration went to Nancy Kemp's table because Nancy brought a clever sea themed ceramic fish with the Four Way Test framed in it as their table's center piece.
We loved having graduating RYLA alumna Megan Kennedy and her family as our guests along with other friends and spouses. Megan and her mother Dana are both volunteering for a Sunday shift.
Welcome home Herr (which comes from Old German for "grey, grey-haired") Walt ~ just in time to get our booth stocked with food and whip us all back into shape with Fair procedures.
Cathy's continues her trek along the Camino Santiago in Spain
Cathy is dedicating her walk in honor of Sam Dardick. Read her message, see photos and view videos of Caleb talking about his dad Sam Dardick at Make History Today ~ End Polio Once and For All! campaign tracking Cathy's progress along the trail. The rain continues to make for a wet journey.
We are already at 90% of our initial goal for Rotary's End Polio Now! campaign thanks to our members as well as donations from other Area 4 Rotary Clubs and friends such as Caleb... let's blow the lid off this goal and make the SKY THE LIMIT!
Join Cathy by making a donation to EndPolio as she walks the Camino Santiago del Norte.
Rotary at The River Cats - LAST CALL!!!!
Friday, September 1st. About $40.00 per person which includes bus trip to Raley Field with food and drinks on bus and ticket to game. We usually sit above 1st base (great seats located out of the sun!).
Leave K-Mart shopping center in GV at 5:00pm and return home at about 11:30pm. Great fun with other Rotarians. 115 of us went last year. Robin needs to know names and numbers by August 10. Each club to gather $$ and cut one check per club to Mark Fleming.
