8am to noon Spring Cleaning in Nevada City. A team of Club members will be repairing and cleaning the Rotary Deer Creek Trail as part of Nevada City's Spring Cleaning Days. The trail starts next to Broad St freeway exit on Lefty's side of Hway 49 and ends behind the National Hotel. Thank you Walt - he cut a lot of blackberries today so bring gloves, rakes, trashbags, etc for clean up and tools for cutting out more blackberries. Join us for as long as you are available - 30 mins to 4 hours unless we finish before noon!
5:30pm Merchant Mixer Night - Dave Painter, SPD Market at National Hotel. For years SPD Market has been a big supporter of our Blub through donating to our Adventurers and Wine Auctions, Hospitality House dinner, Rock Creek Hike and more. Welcome founding family member Dave Painter as he shares insights of SPD's history and vision as our local grocer.

Michael Young inducted as Newest Member
Welcome to our newest member, Michael Young inducted classification Newspaper Editor Retired on March 26. As the recent President of the KVMR Board of Directors, Michael steered the funding and development of KVMR and Nevada Theatre's new building which has just opened. His wife and former Nevada City Rotary Member, Karen Young participated by pinning his Rotary pin on him. Also with Michael, was his sponsor Ben Barretta.
Tom Coleman Nevada City Rotary Vocational Service Award
Thomas A Coleman was recognized for his years of generous support of our Club hosting our meetings and special events. Tom's classification is Hotel Management. As such, he has been "bringing his expertise" to our Club every week for years.
3rd Grade Dictionaries to Yuba River Charter School
Pearce Boyer and Robin distributed dictionaries to Mr Eric Bell's third grade class at Yuba River Charter. Pearce led the class in a delightful exercise to find the word "service" in the dictionary and read aloud its various meanings.

PIELL (Partners in English Language Learning)
Dr. Becca Schultz presented Partners in English Language Learning (PIELL). PIELL helps English language learners become thriving members of our community by offering one-on-one language tutoring, and building bridges that foster cross-cultural respect, understanding, and friendship. She noted that per the 2010 census, 4,500 people in Western Nevada County speak a language other than English in their homes.

Needed Materials and Supplies for Baja!
A team of 13 NC Rotarians, friends and family will be repairing dormitories, or Albergues, cafeteria / study halls in schools that were damaged by hurricanes this last year. The trip will be a wonderful service adventure to provide a much more inviting, safe and comfortable living environment for students who live too far from the school to commute home each day.
