Last week's meeting was all about Ghidotti Early College High School with our speaker Gene Cook. Gene has been a school counselor for 27 years and has been with Ghidotti for 6 years. Ghidotti is located on the Sierra College Nevada County campus and started with a grant from Bill and Melinda Gates. We are very lucky to have so many educational options for students in Nevada County. For more information check out www.nuhsd.org.

Thanks to:
George Rebane and George Foster for offering tickets to the TechForum for a few students from Ghidotti.

Everyone who brought in magazines. We had a large box to deliver to the Sierra Nevada Hospital Foundation who will distribute them at the hospital.

Terry Boyer for giving us an update on his upcoming presidency, new Board, and commitment from John Hensley for a project in Mexico.

Juan Viejo and Otro Viejo for their generous contributions last week.

Congratulations to:
New bell ringer Ed Townsend. Well done Ed.
George Rebane on his birthday trip to Visalia. We are looking forward to Visalia stories when George returns.

Do you know:
The name of the first Rotary president from outside the United States?
The site of the first convention held outside North America?
Check out www.rotary.org for the answers.

Foundation firsts:
In 1929, The Rotary Foundation gave its first gift, US$500, to the International Society for Crippled Children (later Easter Seals), which was founded in 1921 by Rotarian Edgar F. Allen, of the Rotary Club of Elyria, Ohio, USA.

Paul Harris Fellow recognition was established in 1957 to show appreciation for contributions, and to encourage substantial ones, to what was then the Foundation's only program: Rotary Foundation Fellowships for Advanced Study, the precursor to Ambassadorial Scholarships. Today, the recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.

Wheel of Misfortune:
Jim Phillips spun the wheel the week before last and hopefully will be our greeter this week. We missed you last week Jim.

Mr. Thomas A. Coleman spun the wheel and will regale us with a synopsis of an article from this month's Rotarian Magazine.

Reminders:
Rotarians at Work Day is April 14th this year - mark your calendars for a busy, fun day at the fairgrounds with all the clubs in our area.

Club Assembly is April 21st at John Ascuaga's Nugget. If you want to learn more about Rotary in a fun way, mark your calendars.

Recipes - bring me your most loved family recipes and you can put some candy in your pocket.

Let's all try last week's tickler at the meeting today:
You don't have to be at a desk but you must be
sitting.

While sitting make clockwise circles with your right foot.

While doing this, draw the number " 6 " in the air with your right hand.

Your foot will change direction.

Thursday Tickler:
One day a boy asked his grandpa "grandpa, make a frog sound."
The grandfather asked "why?"
The boy said, "Grandma says when you croak we are going to Hawaii."
