A multitude of bells from which to choose. But where's Lucy?
Michael's Mumbles

Last week’s program was a visit from Valentina Olibaras, a Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) Student from Chile hosted by the Grass Valley Club. I am always amazed at the resilience of these young people who spend a year away from home in a foreign land, learning a new culture and language. Valentina was in the US when a huge and destructive earthquake struck her country. Thanks to Grass Valley Rotarian Bobbie Swanson for hosting this interesting presentation!

Mark your calendars for the Annual Demotion Dinner PartyJune 26th from 6pm to 9pm at the Oddfellows Lodge on Spring Street in Nevada City. Note that this is a new location. RSVPs are due to Dixie Redfearn by the end of the Club meeting on Thursday, June 17th, so get your RSVPs to her ASAP. I am forbidden to know the theme and the details, but Dixie will be happy to share when you see her. It is $25 a head. Please sign up at the Club meeting or shoot an email to Dixie at dixierefearn@att.net.

Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is happening at the Grizzly Creek Ranch near Portola this week and next, and our club is hosting two high school students from our community. Many thanks to Paul Boch and Gil Gray, who volunteered to provide transportation to (Paul) and from (Gil) the event for our youngsters. Many thanks for chipping in with time and energy on short notice, guys!

We will not be dark in early July, as we often are. PE Eleanor Kenitzer is rarin’ to go and will present her new Board to the Club for installation on July 1st. We will not meet on June 24th, however, as that meeting is moved to the Demotion.

We have an interesting program coming up on this Thursday – pP John Hensley is hosting EPA Administrator (not wearing her official "hat") Heidi Hall will be providing an update on the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL). It will be an interest program. Be there!
