The Nevada County Land Trust presentation
by Marty Coleman-Hunt last week was interesting
as well as timely. The varied programs of the trust is much
broader than most of us realized, and we were enlightened as
we were taken through the extensive work that is done. Thanks
Ron Knaus for hosting this beneficial program.
This week, our program will cover the "Nevada Irrigation
District" which will be hosted by pP John Hensley.
The presenters, Nancy Weber and Nick
Wilcox, will give us an update on the programs and
goals of the NID. For those of us who live in the NID district,
it should be of special interest; for those of us who do not,
we’ll learn what they are doing out there that affects
us. Plan on attending this informative program.
Concern has been expressed that what is happening in Area
4 and District 5190 is not always
available to the general membership. Although we try to announce
area and district activities at meetings and in the Rotario,
not everything can be covered. The following is how anyone can
get more information on a regular basis:
The District 5190 Newsletter is published
monthly, and printed copies will be distributed at today's meeting.
It can also be accessed at anytime by visiting: www.rotarydistrict5190.org/newsletters.asp.
The Penn Valley Newsletter can be obtained
by e-mailing mike@plazatireandautoservice.com
and asking him for it. The Grass Valley Newsletter
address is www.gvrotary.org/spoke.pdf.
The Nevada County South Newsletter is available
on their website: www.ncsrotary.org,
while the Rotaract Calendar is updated about
once a month on their website:
www.rotaractnc.org. I’ll try to get the Nevada City
49er newsletter address and publish it next week. Another good
way of knowing what is happening in the district is to attend
other club meetings, not only for make-ups,
but to get to know more Rotarians and seeing how different meetings
are held. If you don’t know when the others clubs meet,
just ask!
And don’t forget the Rotaract Champagne Brunch
& Silent Auction on Sunday, June 14th
at the Odd Fellows Hall starting at 11:00 am. Their fundraiser
will support the Food Bank of Nevada County,
Water & Sanitation projects in Uganda,
and the Rotaract Club of Nevada County. Please
support the efforts of these dedicated Rotaracters – remember,
they are the future of Rotary!
