It only took eleven months, but the scallywags finally got
the bell! Head pirate is pP Ben Berretta with
the help of a number of pirates-in-training, including Austin
Farrar, Robin Milam and a secret culprit. (Did I hear cheers
from the peanut gallery?). A ransom note hasn’t been
received as of this writing, but a settlement can be negotiated.
Supposedly, the bell will make an appearance by installation
so PE Michael Colantuono will have his turn
at fending off the scallywags…
SYRCL’s Executive Director Jason Raney
did a great job last week sharing why the Bear River Project
Relicensing is of importance to us all, not just PG&E and
NID. His presentation was well received with a lot of good questions.
Thanks to Michael for arranging this informative program.
This week, our program is hosted by Ron Knaus
who will introduce Marty Coleman-Hunt on the
subject of, "Nevada County Land Trust Overview". This
should prove interesting since the Land Trust is so involved
in ensuring protection of so many properties for the benefit
of the environment and the citizens of Nevada County. Hope to
see you there!
Have you been thinking about getting some more dollars into
RI towards your Paul Harris? Now is a good
time to do that before the end of the year. We are short of
making our average of $100 per member for 2008-2009. You also
might consider becoming a Bequest Society member
or a Paul Harris Fellow. If you have been putting
your quarter a day in a jar as pP Nancy Kemp
encouraged us all to do, then you should have almost $100 to
send to RI or give to Treasurer and pP Ellen Davis.
District 5190 is short overall of about 12% towards the district
goal for Foundation. Let's help overcome that deficit in the
true spirit of the Nevada City Rotary Club!
Then, there is the good news about DG Wyn Spiller
who is back to work on a part time basis as she recovers from
her recent surgery. Way to go, Wyn!
