Last week's program was enlightening as we learned the results
of the Club Surveys submitted by 40 of our
members. Although I don't think there were any real surprises,
it is always beneficial to learn what the members are thinking.
We know that we are a viable club and beneficial to the community,
but we also know that to remain that way we need to be flexible,
good listeners and ready to adapt to changing situations. With
this information and the visioning process we recently held,
plans will be made for this next year with an idea where we
would like to be in five years. Both will be helpful on Friday
when the Board holds its' retreat. Thanks PE Michael
Colantuono for conducting the survey as well as reporting
on it.
I'm pleased to report that DG Wyn Spiller
is home from the hospital and on the mend. After her surgery,
she had an infection that kept her in the hospital a few extra
days. According to her mother, Wyn is resting comfortably and
reading novels. Way to go, Wyn!
Anyone interested in taking a tour of our D5190 Camp
RYLA? Four tours will be conducted on June
11 and 18. If interested, let me know
and I will forward the details by e-mail.
They did it again! pP John Hensley & Sandra
hosted another enjoyable Memorial Day party at Scott's Flat
Lake. A number of Nevada City Rotarians and guests were present,
and a good time was had by all. They did a great job of keeping
the rain away this year. Thanks Sandra and John!
Remember last week when PE Marty Martin from
the Penn Valley Rotary Club dropped by to hawk their golf ball
drop project? One ball out of around a thousand landed in the
hole. Guess whose? You're right, it was mine! More money towards
my next Paul Harris…
This week our speaker is Jason Raney, Executive
Director of SYRCL. His topic will be "Bear River Project
Relicensing". This should be of interest to all of us and
special interest to the environmentalists out there. The subject
deals with the Bear River hydropower project by PG&E and
NID – what it is and why it should concern the residents
of Nevada County. See you there!
