Thursday evening starting at 5:30 pm the Area 4 Mixer will be hosted at the Holiday Inn Express in Grass Valley. It's purpose is to publicize Rotary in western Nevada County and spark interest in potential new members. All of our clubs will be represented with information tables and members available to answer questions. Presidents will put on the spot to reveal what is true and what is not true about themselves. It should be fun. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring guests. See you there!

PE Michael Colantuono is distributing a membership survey as he prepares for the 2009-10 Rotary year along with proposed new Club Bylaws updated by pP Nancy Kemp. Please return the survey by March 31st. Voting on adopting the Bylaws will be done in late March.

Each week, we get an update on the progress of the Radio Auction, and each week the auction items increase as does the dollar value. Keep up the good work! The young people who benefit with scholarships are not only grateful, but are our future leaders. The Minden Club tells me that their major auction item has been upgraded to a hunting rifle worth $10,000 for their Beast Feast on February 28th. The rifle has all the bells and whistles to make it the envy of any hunter. Interested on bidding? It can be done on-line. Interested in attending the Beast Feast? Let me know. Also, word has been received that Reno Sunrise will be having a Sporting Clay Shoot on Sunday, April 26th. I have details for anyone interested.

Don't forget that our area e-Waste project is this weekend. If you haven't already brought your e-Waste to one of the collection sites, you can take it to any one of three locations on Sunday. Flyers with details will be available at this week's meeting.

Last week's program on DVSAC Prevention and Outreach presented by Suzanne Miller and hosted be Jim Phillips made us all more aware of programs to help those being abused or fearful of being abused. We also learned more about facilities that are available for both men and women who seek help. This week, PE Michael Colantuono will host the program, "Saving the Placer County Courthouse" which will be presented by Russ Baldo. With recent talks of relocating our courthouse, Mike thought it would be beneficial if we became aware of the steps that Placer County took to keep their courthouse where it is. This should be an interesting step for those interested in being involved in finding other solutions in Nevada City than building a new structure at the government center or even out of town.

  Club News

LAST WEEK: The club missed several opportunities to steal the bell, including when Presidet FaBuhlis removed his hand from the bell to tell us he once caught a fish "this big". Rumor has it that our fearless leader has resorted to using this pitiful-looking wooden sign to "save" his seat. Photos/D Kenitzer

Radio Auction Update: We will be holding our 12th Annual Radio Auction on Saturday, April 18! As of Wednesday evening, we have received 64 donated items worth $10,324! For the fastest processing, please remember to fax your donation forms to 323-5828. Or hand them in at the weekly meeting. Just keep 'em coming!
Club Visioning: Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 9th from 9am to noon at the Superintendent of Schools office. During this time, the District 5190 Visioning Team will be leading us through a brainstorm session to help us strategically plan for the future. All members are welcome to attend.
