The program last week hosted by Allan Rogers
and presented by Dr. Peter Zeischegg, MS DC
was an informative presentation dealing with oxygen and a healthy
brain which translates into a healthy body. As usual, our members
picked up on the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions to
make the program even more interesting.
Our members were very generous in supporting two families with
food and gifts this Christmas season. Thanks to Cathy
Wilcox-Barnes and pP Ellen Davis for
coordinating this important community service project. Miriam
Keene will bring the Salvation Army Kettle to our meeting
this week to remind us to support the less fortunate. How about
bringing a buck or two to put into the kettle that will be circulated
at our meeting this week? Thanks to all of you who have rung
the bell to meet our collection commitment. There is no doubt
that we will hold our championship over the Grass Valley Rotary
Club for the most dollars collected!
Our Area 4 e-Waste project is coming along
with items collected by all five clubs. As reported before,
Lance Amaral has donated storage space in the
former Hedman's warehouse behind the Nevada City SPD to collect
donations until the BIG DAY on February 22nd. You can bring
electronic equipment, working or not, to the meeting this week
for transport to the storage location. The object is to meet
RI President D.K. Lee's challenge for our area
to collect $15,000 over the next three years for Polio
Plus.
Vocational Chair Nicole Dillard has extended
the deadline for nominations for Business Person of
the Year to December 31st. If you have someone you
would care to nominate, you may contact her.
This week, new member Bob Skipper will host
our program. The subject is "County Fire Safety Plan"
to be presented by Ken Fike. We are having
rain and snow right now, but we all know the need to prepare
for dry seasons. Ken will tell us the County plans to help us
to protect our properties.
One more Rotario will be published this year between Christmas
and the New Year so that you will have the schedule for planning
after the 1st. To all of you, Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah
– it's a great time of the year!
