Everyone seemed to have a good time at our Christmas
Party last Thursday evening if a lively crowd is an
indication! Thanks to Cathy Wilcox-Barnes and
Jeff Wenzel, who took the lead in planning
and executing another successful fellowship event. I failed
to remind you in last week’s newsletter that we were asked
to bring an unwrapped toy to the dinner for the Salvation Army
gift project. If you didn’t bring one or you were unable
to attend the dinner, please bring your toy to this week’s
meeting for a December 15th distribution.
Each week, Miriam Keene has been bringing
the Salvation Army kettle to our meetings to remind us of our
collection commitment. Gary Gustafson has recruited
many of you to ring the bell to fill the kettle and beat out
the competition from the Grass Valley club. During these difficult
economic times, it is more important than ever for those who
are in a position to do so, to donate generously. During these
next two meetings, we’ll pass the kettle around hoping
that each member present will put a buck or two in it. We not
only want to help those in need, but maintain our victory over
Grass Valley!
Nominations are being requested for Business Person
of the Year for presentation at the Nevada City Chamber
of Commerce Awards Dinner on January 24th. See Nicole
Dillard for a nominating form. Nominations are due
by Thursday, December 18th.
Our Area 4 e-Waste Project is coming along
with items collected by all five clubs. Lance Amaral has loaned
us storage space in the old Hedman’s warehouse behind
SPD to collect donations until the big day on February
22nd. You can bring electronic equipment, working or
not, to the meeting on December 18th for transport to the storage
location. The object is to meet RI President D.K. Lee’s
challenge for our area to collect $15,000 over the next three
years for Polio Plus.
This week, Allan Rogers will host the program,
"Ask Dr. Z About Health", to be presented by Dr.
Peter Zeischegg MS DC, a local chiropractor and neurologist.
With the Christmas holidays here, we probably can use all the
help we can get to be healthy and stay healthy!
