Party Hearty with Jimmi Accardi is happening this
weekend!
On Friday, May 16th at the Miners
Foundry the doors will open at 6:30 for Elegant
Hors d’oeuvres, a Silent Auction
(with 120 items), a no-host Beer & Wine Bar
and of course, Dancing and Fellowship.
Our club is partnering with the Women of Worth
organization this year for this fun evening.
Tickets are $24 at the door and all proceeds raised will go
toward the many services provided by Women of Worth for domestic
violence survivors in Nevada County. Our planning team (Laurie
Powell, Cheryl Benso, Jeff
& Lynn Wenzel and Gary Gustafson)
along with the many volunteers of the Women of Worth Organization
have been working hard to make this event memorable. This is
one of our Community Service projects to benefit an important
cause, so please make it to the Miners Foundry on Friday!
And on the International Project front, as you know our $234,000
3-H Grant to bring clean water and better nutrition
to Southwest Uganda -- specifically the Batwa Pygmies
in the area surrounding the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest -- was
approved by Rotary International!
Our club is in partnership with the Rotary Club of Kabale,
Uganda. pP Don Fultz, chief author of this
grant, has received the grant package from TRF (The Rotary Foundation)
and has put out the call for us to raise our share of the money
($17,000) for this grant. Don reports that
the Penn Valley club has already pledged $3,000.
When you contribute to this project, you are contributing to
the Rotary Foundation as you would each year
to credit your Paul Harris. However, these
funds will be designated for this grant. We also need volunteers!
Please see Don or Shirl Mendonca
for more information about how to contribute.
This is a distinct honor to receive 3-H grant approval, so
if you have been waiting to contribute to the Foundation for
your Paul Harris – now is the time!
