ATTENTION ROTARIANS –

This Sunday, April 27th is the last day to register for the District Conference. Governor Vic and his team need to give the Peppermill the counts for food, so even if you are only going to the Saturday Night Gala and the Sunday Breakfast, you need to get your registration in. Please go to www.rotarydistrictconference.org to register online. If you would rather fax your registration form, visit the District 5190 website. If you need the form and can’t get one, please call me at 470-0677 and I’ll get one to you. This year’s conference is going to be a little different, so don’t miss it!

Our Group Study Exchange team had a great time in our area. They arrived on Friday, toured our area on Saturday, and rested with their host families on Sunday. On Monday, the team attended Vocational Tours and gave an interesting presentation to the Rotary clubs in our area. Dave & Gayle Denney hosted the Systems Analyst, Daniel Braga; Shirl Mendonca hosted the Journalist, Graziela Souza; Eleanor Kenitzer provided the Vocational Tour for Mining Administrator, Olemar Lopes Junior; and David Kenitzer and Gary Gustafson provided the Vocational Tour for Daniel. Thank you all for providing a meaningful and warm experience for this great group of young professionals from Brazil. Wyn & Steve Spiller hosted a farewell dinner at the Nevada City Winery, and our own Julie Miller created beautiful flower arrangements for the tables. At the dinner, Olemar said to me as I was bidding him goodbye “The Rotary Clubs in this area – very, very good!”

Our meeting next week (May 1st) will be back at the ranch (the National) where we will hear from the City Council candidates. Unfortunately, my bell has again been stolen, so please bring plenty of one dollar bills for the fining that will occur.

2008 District Conference: The District Conference is the culmination of what the 53 Rotary clubs in our district accomplish. And this Rotary year, we will all come together on May 1-4 at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino in Reno to discuss, celebrate, and plan for the future! Registration and details about the Conference are available at www.rotarydistrictconference.org or www.rotarydistrict5190.org/districtconferencehome.asp
Party Hearty: This year's Party Hearty with Jimmi Accardi will be on Friday, May 16 at the Miners Foundry, which will benefit Women of Worth! More details coming...
99th Annual Rotary International Convention: As RI President Wilf Wilkinson says, "a Rotary convention is an event like no other", and this year's RI Convention is only going to be 450 miles away at the Los Angeles Convention Center. June 15-18 is right around the corner, so please take a look at the Convention Brochure available on the RI Website: http://www.rotary.org/RIdocuments/en_pdf/c08_brochure.pdf.
