pP David reported a whopping $532
worth of donations as a starting figure for our Radio
Auction! We’ve got a bit of a way to go, so if
you can make it out of your driveway, get to your donors and
gather their donations. Our Radio Auction is on March 29th,
so just another month and a half for those donations!
Our program this week is Mike McDaniel speaking
about Nevada County Liabilities; Gil Gray has
brought us this program which will be introduced by George
Rebane at our meeting. This should be very interesting
so please make the effort to be at our meeting and you know
we miss you when you are not in attendance.
OK, here’s the Rotary Awareness Quiz –
What is the Rotary Community Corps? There are
6,337 Rotary Community Corps with a total of 145,751 members
in 73 countries. This program is one of nine structured programs
created by Rotary to help clubs achieve their service goals.
It is a group of non-Rotarian men and women who share Rotarians’
commitment to service. An RCC (Rotary Community Corps) is formed
under the guidance of a sponsoring club who helps orient members,
assists with financial and operating plans, maintains enthusiasm
and communicates success stories. This program started in 1985
and was adopted as an official program in 1988. An RCC meets
at least once a month with a Rotarian present for the meeting,
officers are elected and dues are nominal. RCCs are expected
to complete 2 projects per year, examples include: establishing
a literacy center or tutoring group at a local high school or
library or organizing teams to clean up local parks or highways.
Rotarians oversee the project work, but corps members exercise
independence in project completion.
So with the 1,210,047 Rotarians worldwide, the 163,116 Rotaract
members, the 255,277 Interact members AND the 145,751 Rotary
Community Corps members, there are 1,774,191 individuals doing
good in the world under the banner of Rotary. We’re proud
to be a part of it!
