Our speaker last week, Bill Haire of the Land
Trust, gave us an overview of the trails in our county
along with pictures and usage statistics. The Litton Trial gets
170+ people per day! We are fortunate to have an abundant network
of trails to use for our communing with nature. Bill worked
for many years at the Forest Service with our own Pete
Brost and confided to me while we were lunching that
Pete, contrary to popular belief, was quite a troublemaker and
rabble rouser during his years at the Forest Service. Pete will
need to be fined heavily for portraying himself as a model Forest
Service employee.
This week our program will be exceptional. Your Officers
and Board of Directors will share
with you the scintillating club details that we shared with
District Governor Vic Slaughter during his
visit to us in October. We’ll talk about our budget, our
projects and challenges. Don’t miss this one!
This weekend is the Salvation Army Bell Ringing.
We’ve got a great group lined up to collect donations
from the public at SPD and Rite Aid. We have won the Ringing
Contest with Grass Valley for the last two years and hope to
retain the bell, so if you are not one of the ringers and you
are in the vicinity of either of these two establishments, stop
by and add a donation as your fellow Rotarians ring. Our newest
member, Robin Milam, has been reminding the
ringers of their shifts – thank you Robin.
The Foundation Dinner has come and gone, but donations to the
Rotary Foundation can be made at any time.
If you donate $100 you are considered a Sustaining Member; $1,000
and you are a Paul Harris Fellow. One of our club goals is to
increase our number of Sustaining Members, so if you have not
yet donated your $100 and would like to add your contribution
to the Rotary Foundation, please see Ellen Davis
or Shirl Mendonca.
Finally, don't forget that next week's meeting
has been moved to Friday evening for our Christmas
Party!
