Our new Rotary Year has begun with our new theme Rotary
Shares. At our meeting on Thursday, Pamela
Yazell, our Assistant District Governor will share
greetings from our District Governor, Vic Slaughter.
If you didn’t get a cool Rotary Shares theme
pin at our last meeting, be sure and get one on the way in on
Thursday. For our program three of our members will share interesting
tidbits about themselves in their Craft Talks so don’t
miss our meeting!
Our Fair Booth Co-Chairmen pP Ben Barretta
and Joe Tomkiewicz are deep into planning for
our Fair Booth fundraiser August 8-12th.
The theme for this year’s Fair is "Pirates of the
Barnyard" and if you haven’t already done so, please
sign up for a shift at our booth. pP John Woodford
(he’s been spotted recently) is the day captain
for Saturday, August 11th and is looking forward to a tightly
run ship during his shift, especially on Saturday evening. Our
Fair Booth Picnic to be held at the Fairgrounds in front of
our booth will start at 6:00 PM on Thursday,
August 2nd. The picnic will be a salad/dessert potluck
with a sampling of our booth food as well; our table decorating
contest will reach new heights this year. Families and guests
are invited!
Our 2007-2008 Board of Directors is a fluid
organization, so please see the top of the Rotario for our current
slate. We will be handing out a chart of directors and their
areas of responsibilities as well as a current roster to share
club information.
pP / Secretary David Kenitzer will serve as
the liaison between the Area 4 Rotary Clubs and our soon-to-be-formed
Rotaract Club. David attended the Rotaract
Organizational Meeting on June 28th and reports that we have
an energetic and enthusiastic groups of young adults (18-30)
who are ready to form a Rotaract Club in Area 4. Thanks to David
and the Past Presidents of our area for establishing this important
club.
It's not too late for our club to sponsor a candidate for Group
Study Exchange (GSE). This 40+ year old Rotary sponsored
program is a cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for
young business and professional men and women between the ages
of 25 and 40. The GSE team from our area will be going to Brazil
so if you have a potential candidate please let our International
Chair Stacie Hart know so we can start the
application process.
In Service Above Self,
President Nancy Kemp
