Only 58 Days Until The Radio Auction!
Yes, the countdown to the 2007 Rotary Radio Auction has officially
started (actually, it started a couple of weeks ago during
the Kick-Off Club Assembly, but you know what I mean).
I see that they're already starting to trickle in. In fact as
of last night, we have already collected 19 items totalling
almost $5,000. That's almost 10% of this year's $50,000
goal, and we're only 2 weeks into the collection. Great
job, folks! Let's keep 'em coming...
I heard from several Rotarians that PE Nancy Kemp
did a wonderful job running last week's meeting. So I asked
her to run this week's meeting as well. When she bursted into
uncontrollable laughter and starting muttering something about
"hearding cats" over-and-over, I realized I couldn't
get out of it this week. Perhaps I should wait until after PETS
to ask her again...
And yes, I am just kidding (she actually started
crying, not laughing)...
I know that in last week's column, PE Nancy wrote about our
club winning the Salvation Army Bell Ringers
award. However, I heard a rumor that President Bob "The
Man" Breck of the Grass Valley Rotary Club would
be visitng us today. And I couldn't resist mentioning that we
trounced them two years in a row. This year, our kettles
held more than twice theirs.
So... now that I mentioned all of that, I won't feel so bad
when he stands up to tell us a little bit about their Casino
Night, which is coming up on Saturday, February
3 from 6:30 until 10:00 at the Fairgrounds. Besides,
I can't be too mean to him, since he does help us out with the
Radio Auction each year...
In Service Above Self,
President David "The Kidd" Kenitzer
