The Kidd's Comments

My first meeting as president is finally behind me. For those of you who missed the meeting (shame, shame) as well as for anyone who couldn’t understand the 600 words per minute coming out of my mouth, here is a quick recap…

We were visited by several Rotary muck-a-mucks, including the District Governor Nominee, Area 4 Assistant Governor, and all of the Area 4 President (except Rick Nolle). Carolyn Inglis (look I spelled it right) became our newest Paul Harris Fellow. Two more students were presented with scholarship checks. Past President Fultzee was surprisingly quiet. Sadly, Steve Fjeldsted is moving to Pasadena. Larry Undercoffer always tells great jokes, while Eric Trygg is "comically challenged". And Eleanor Kenitzer sometimes repeats herself from week-to-week and talks and talk and talks and…

RI President Bill Boyd (from New Zealand) asks all of us to Lead the Way. I say that you can only do that if you Follow Your Passion. And to help us all become more “passionate” Rotarians, my goals for the Club are to:

  • Encourage More Participation in Rotary Activities
  • Promote Club Activities Internally and Externally
  • Have Fun!

Most importantly, the meeting concluded without any catastrophes or monumental foul-ups (other than forgetting to introduce PE Nancy Kemp during my presentation and running 5 mins over schedule). And I even adjourned the meeting by ringing the bell (we’ll see how often that occurs this year).

Speaking of potential bell theft... in this day-and-age, I do not believe in punishing by levying hefty fines. Today, I'll establish some new guidelines for monetary provisioning of impromptu announcements, long-winded messages, bell theft (stolen from President Charlie Litton of the Nevada County South Club), and other silliness. I want to assure all of you that I believe in positive reinforcement.

In Service Above Self,
David "Kidd" Kenitzer

Club News
Baby Stewart: Dear Friends: The past two weeks as you know have been more than eventful. But good always comes out of challenging times. And one of the many good things is knowing your friends are there for you. I have felt your prayers and good vibes. Mike and I truly appreciate everything you've done. Flowers, cards, phone calls and messages. We were especially touched by the card signed by everyone in the club. It took me several minutes to read all the names and messages through my tears. Colin is adjusting well to Branden being in the house now. He is helpful at retrieving diapers and holding a bottle to Branden's mouth. Although sometimes he gets distracted by a toy or book and lets the bottle flop out of Branden's mouth. Branden clearly tells him he doesn't like that. Branden is sleeping well so far (yaaaa, we got a sleeper!) He sleeps at four-hour intervals and has a very healthy appetite. I look forward to seeing you all and introducing baby Branden to you at the Fair Booth picnic on August 3rd. Love to all, Kim, Mike, Colin & Branden
