Club News

Halloween Event: All Nevada City Rotary members are cordially invited to attend the Pioneer Arts Club - Halloween Gathering at Past President Kim Stewart's House on Saturday Oct 29 at 6:00pm. Why are we invited? Kim's sister is the President of Pioneer Arts Club, so the two Prez's got together and decided to make it a double bash! Here's the rules: you must come in costume as the following -- a famous artist, a famous sculpture, or a type of art media (or anything art related will probably get you in the door). 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be given, as well as an Honorable Mention Award. Please bring a potluck dish if your last name starts with A-L; please bring a bottle of wine if your last name is M-Z. Parking is limited so car-pool if you can.
Sierra Services for the Blind: This year's annual event is now called Party Hearty with Jimmy Accardi and will be held on Nov 18 at the Grass Valley Vets Building. All members will be required to sell four tickets to this event.
Rotary Youth Exchange: If you are interested in hosting a RYE student for three months next year, please talk to John Woodford or Nancy Kemp.
Weight Loss Challenge: Last week's winner in the contest was new member Brent Daggett, who shed 6.8 lbs, followed by Jim Phillips, Don Fultz and Randy Young. The standings to-date: Fultz = 8.0 , Daggett = 6.8, Phillips= 6.2, Young = 4.0. In a complex formula only understood by George Rebane, each week's loser contributes $10 per pound to the winners' Paul Harris accounts.
Weekly Attendance: Four members kept our club from having 100% attendence on Oct 6: Teresa Carrigan, David Fluke, Ray James, and George Rebane. Several members need to make up by Oct 27 for our club to have a 100% day for Oct 13. They are: Jarrett Anderson, Ben Barretta, Teresa Carrigan, Jim Ciaffoni, JoAnne Conley, David Fluke, Gary Gustafson, Stacie Hart, Ray James, Nicole Oros, Cathy Wilcox-Barnes, John Woodford, and Randy Young. [Names submitted by Treasurer and Secretary]
